Recently our department got rid of shotguns in the cars and said if we wanted a shotgun we have to get issued the ones from the cars. So i got issued a 870 express and after three hours of cleaning it with 0000 steel wool and blue wonder I got all the surface rust and internal barrel rust out of the gun I decided to not return the gun since I spent so much time cleaning it up. I put some RIG grease on the outside and it acutally looks really good. It's a matter of pride to keep it I guess.
Anyway I replaced the cracked plastic follower with a steel one. I replaced the magazine spring with a wolff spring. I put on a new magazine end cap since the original one was so rusted out at the threads. I put on a tac star six shot shell holder. A speed feed stock and forend, a streamlight end cap rail for an M 3 light and a rear sling that fits between the reciever and stock from botach tactical. Also put a wilson big head safety on it. We are not suspose to alter the gun such as a 2 shot extension since you have to get the detents out. Although most guys have done this I figure its not a good idea. Anyway I figure it is better to bang up the department instead of buying and banging up my own. I want and I am going to get an 870 police with walnut furniture model 4903 seven shot pretty soon.
Anyway I was wondering it there is any other suggestions for what I could do to the shotgun to improve it?
