686-3 Safe Queen

While cleaning out my safe yesterday, I dug out a Smith 686 2 1/2" that I had stuck in the back for some reason and forgot about. Near as I can remember I have had it for 10 or 12 years. If someone can help, I would like to zoom in on it's age. It is a 2 1/2 " 686-3 sn BBZ01xx.

They are MagSafe .357 Magnum 68-gr SWAT Load

picked one of these up in feb. A friend owns a fun shop and took it in on trade so we took it out and shot it...WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW is all i can say shoots great I actually think it will be this years deer gun. just need to get some of those fancy grips. pretty piece btw.

The 686 "Snubbies" ARE NICE...I FOOLISHLY let one "Get Away" from me about two years ago...sold it to a Co-worker who wouldn't take "NO" for an answer...finally got it BACK a coupla' months ago--guess I had something he wanted MORE... :) ... mine is a "Dash Four"...

I would like to zoom in on it's age. It is a 2 1/2 " 686-3 sn BBZ01xx.


From my reference book, Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 1990 was the first year of the 2.5" barrel, and was a 686-3 version.
The -4 didn't appear until 1993. The "BBZ" prefix was not listed in the referenced book.
