View Full Version : WTB Rohrbaugh Elite or ?
WTB Rohrbaugh Elite or ? Must be in California. Can pay cash.
For what you'll pay for a hand-fitted Rohrbaugh, you could get a Kahr in any configuration and have money left over for a holster and ammo, and I suggest that it will work just as well if not better.

You can not get Rorhbaugh in California because it was never officially and legally imported here, unless of course you want to do it outside the legal channel.
Last time I checked Rohrbaugh was not interested in California market having sold almost all he can make in 48 states. With new regulations introduced annually in the Golden State (i.e. magazine safety) there are not a lot of new guns that get approved by the AG's Firearms Bureau.
I have a Kahr PM9 and think it is OK.
The reviews I have read on the Rohrbaugh state it is a real gem.
I am looking for a Rohrbaugh through legal channels in CA. It can be done if someone bought the Rohrbaugh when they lived in another state, where they are legal and then moved to CA and legally brought the Rohrbaugh here.
Transfer must be done PPT.
Plus I like to collect firearms.
Here is my Kahr:

Actually it is not a bad idea. I assume that PPT means person-to-person transfer. These are illegal in California unless done through a licensed dealer, but there may be a chance that someone not only brought a Rohrbaugh to California but also registered it with the Firearms Bureau of the CA State Atorney General's Office.
Difficult but can be done. Good luck!!!
Private Party Transfer.
It is done through a FFL.
10 Day waiting with full check and DOJ.
All legal, just a lot of steps that reduce the chance I will ever get to buy one. I did miss one on another forum by just a little bit.
Too bad for me.
The Rohrbaughs are out there, if you search various forums. It is smaller than the PM9, but it has it's own set of problems (check out the Rohrbaugh forum). For half the price, I went with the PM9 and am very happy (fires everything, even +P). And I don't have to worry about replacing the recoil spring every 100 rounds. Then again, the Rohrbaugh is a true pocket gun (PM9 is at the upper edge).
If you have the money, why not. But don't expect it to be all that much better than the Kahr.
Thanks for your thoughts. It may be a long time before I get one if ever.

Gotta love the misinformation found on gun boards...
1boxer1, good luck on your quest. My R9s is my EDC firearm.

My understanding is that is from Rohrbaugh, not misinformation from the site.Whatever.
My brother has one. And I do know it is picky on ammo, with a number of FTFs anf FTEs unless you use Gold Dots (I think).
My Seecamp .32 only really shoots one type of ammo well. That is real picky.
