Jeff Foxworthy on School Employees

"YOU might be a school employee if you believe the playground should be
equipped with a Ritalin salt lick.

YOU might be a school employee if you want to slap the next person who says,
'Must be nice to work 8 to 3:30 and have summers off.

YOU might be a school employee if it is difficult to name your own child
because there's no name you can come up with that doesn't bring high
blood pressure as it is uttered.

YOU might be a school employee if you can tell it's a full moon or if it
going to rain, snow, hail....anything!!! Without ever looking outside.

YOU might be a school employee if you believe, 'shallow gene pool'
should have its own box on a report card.

YOU might be a school employee if you believe that unspeakable evils
will befall you if anyone says, 'Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.'

YOU might be a school employee if when out in public, you feel the urge
to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their
behavior.

YOU might be a school employee if you have no social life between August and June.

YOU might be a school employee if you think people should have a
government permit before being allowed to reproduce.

YOU might be a school employee if you wonder how some parents MANAGED to reproduce.

YOU might be a school employee if you laugh uncontrollably when people refer to the staff room as the 'lounge.'
YOU might be a school employee if you encourage an obnoxious parent to
check into charter schools or home schooling and are willing to donate
the U-HAUL boxes should they decided to move out of district.

YOU might be a school employee if you think caffeine should be available
in intravenous form.

YOU might be a school employee if you can't imagine how the ACLU could
think that covering your students chair with Velcro and then requiring
uniforms made out of the corresponding Velcro could ever be
misunderstood by the public.

YOU might be a school employee if meeting a child's parent instantly
answers this question, 'Why is this kid like this?'

YOU might be a school employee if you would choose a mammogram over a parent conference.

YOU might be a school employee if you think someone should invent
antibacterial pencils and crayons...and desks and chairs for that
matter!

YOU might be a school employee if the words 'I have college debt for
this?' has ever come out of your mouth.

YOU might be a school employee if you know how many days, minutes, and seconds are left in the school year!"

Three days to go!

I plan on it, trust me! :hugs: :wavey:

:

You have NO idea how low!

HOWEVER, there are rewards that money can't begin to compare with!

When you feel you have touched one child's heart/life, it reminds you why you choose to
stay there!

Friday is the last day for the kids.

Florida is trying to get more in line with the rest of the country. (?)
We use to start the first week of August but
had such an unstable enrollment until after Labor Day. So, starting with this
past school year, we started mid August. We USE to finish by Memorial Day.

Now, it's the first HOT week of June.

We have always done our Special Area awards outside on the Covered Patio since the school opened. But this year it is so hot....two weeks later, that we had to FIND a room big enough to do it indoors. We had the Awards Day yesterday inside in the Music Room. It smelled of sweaty children's bodies by the end of the day! :faint:

The Cafeteria is our "multipurpose room", but they serve lunch during such a
huge Chunk of the day, we can't use that.

The kids leave Friday.

We (teachers ONLY) come back Monday and Tuesday. I'm suppose to move to a new room; but so far, the Computer Technician hasn't vacated my new office. :impatient:  So, I will be packed up, hopefully by Friday, and just visit with friends Monday and Tuesday. We will go out to lunch, and go home early. TOUGH two days!

Assistants and some office staff are also done on Friday.

Mine were out by Memorial Day weekend. Their last day was the 22nd of May. We had been starting like mid August (around the 12 or so), but come to find out, the start date had been pushed back the past 2 years due to opening new schools. Now this year they are starting Aug 7 and will be finished by the 22nd of May or so. I wish they would start a little later. It is so hot the beginning of August, but then again they do have AC. Unlike me, I went all 12 years without AC in the schools. We burned up in the summer (but we did not start full days until after labor day and only went 1/2 days like the first week or so which was late August) and froze in the winter.

I honestly can not remember when school started and stopped when I was in school.

My husband says he thinks it started after Labor Day and ended before
Memorial Day. But I don't know how that was possible to get in 180 days.

We honored all American Holidays back then. We do not do that now.

I know that I graduated from high school on June 8. I can't forget that date!

I know most kids are "touched"; I just didn't realize it was the teachers fault. So much for blaming the shallow end of the gene pool...

:tongueout:

Not the kind of "touched" I was referring to!

Mark and I gave a small plant and card to his teacher in thanks for being so wonderful. Tomorrow is his last day. I am going to miss her, she is really a GREAT teacher.

Then you should have given her a different kind of 'plant.' :whistling:
