View Full Version : Question on Parkerizing
What is the black finish on Glock slides? Is it parkerizing? Meron po ba nag=parkerize dito sa Pinas? Magkano kaya?
Glock Tenifer finish.
sir tenifer is a treatment of the steel - parang stainless or galvanized. The black finish is parkerized finish. Tenifer is what is under the black finish

Yeah, you're probably right. The final finish is parkerized if Wikipedia is correct.

An older Glock Annual said that a phosphate finish (parkerized finish) is applied after treating the metal with tenifer.

True. I've seen a factory pic of slides just after the Tennifer process and they're in their bare metal state. Only then can the cosmetic black oxide finish be applied.
BTW, the Tennifer process is a surface hardening process. Only about 0.05mm of the outer metal surface is affected. But that is enough to give it a hardness of Rockwell C59 and excellent rust resistance.
