Otto Skorzeny 06-09-2008, 18:00 I am looking at a Rock Island 1911 .45. Does anyone have experience with them? Thanks! Take two seconds and do a search here or on any gun board. I'm sure you'll find many responses. Many of them seem to be positive. Hope that helps. Mail Clerk 06-09-2008, 20:16 I am looking at a Rock Island 1911 .45. Does anyone have experience with them? Thanks! duboismd, Mine in it's basic form is fantastic!!! The only problem that I have is that the barrel could be better quality. However when I shoot it it'll group in a 5" paper plate at 25 yards so dispite it's looks I can't whine about it's performance. Believe me if your looking into one your money is well spent. Mail Clerk bac1023 06-09-2008, 20:27 Mine has been great. FLuXmr2spyder 06-11-2008, 05:15 another member here had his reworked and looks quite sweet, i am also thinking of getting one for myself Bowtie 06-17-2008, 23:22 http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=844244 duboismd 06-18-2008, 07:03 Thanks for all the input. This forum is great. I think I will need to take the plunge. 97guns 06-18-2008, 16:52 i like my commander sized, ive maybee put 500 rounds through it without a hiccup. it shoots just as well as my kimber. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/hd0642/handguns/HPIM0048.jpg MJZZZ 06-26-2008, 12:14 I had a problem with my first RIA, the safety would not engage everytime. I sent it back for repair and also to have a commander hammer and beavertail installed. What I got back was a brand new gun with the new parts installed, all at no charge. I have over 2000 rounds through it and the only things I've added were new grips and an 18lb Wolff recoil spring. The after sale service, when needed is a bright spot to RIA owners. Mike duboismd 06-26-2008, 16:32 Thanks to all for the feedback. Wetrudgeon 06-27-2008, 18:02 We own a Tactical and it has been altogether satisfactory for the first 1.5K rounds. The trigger is very good and the pistol puts the pellet where we aim. We own other 1911A1 pistols including a Kimber Tactical Ultra II that cost over twice what the RIA cost. The Kimber is neither more accurate nor more reliable. This is not to disparage the Kimber, but the RIA will not be going anywhere anytime soon. We think you will not be disappointed if you try one. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Wetrudgeon/RIATac0331003-1.jpg We trudge on. bac1023 06-27-2008, 21:06 We own a Tactical and it has been altogether satisfactory for the first 1.5K rounds. It's cheap enough that it won't kill your budget yet it's still a decent example of the 1911. It's an entry level gun. You can modify and/or shoot it without regret. All of mine have worked well. YMMV! vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
