OK, here it goes. I've decided to go shopping tomorrow. I currently have a G 21. Sooo, I am going to buy a G 30sf. (Just because I like the .45) But here's my dilema. I also have a S & W 9mm compact. Thought about buying a G 19 and stay consistent in my ammunition, but some of my friends are telling me to go with a .40.

I am now debating between the G 19 and the G23. My primary purpose would be for CCW when I leave the great state of IL. Not sure if staying consistent in my ammo purchases of .45 and 9mm is that important. Would I be happier with a .40 or not ?

I have been reading alot of different posts and after doing my own research it will be either the G 19 or G 23. And that is based on size and ammo capacity. NOW, I'm starting to lean towards the .40

Any help is appreciated and welcomed. THANKS

Have you shot a .40 before?

Easy. Start your 9mm collection. If you didn't have the S&W, I'd recommend starting with G26 if you carry. If not, the 19 is the place to start...

I would also vote for the 9mm. I love my G19 but either the 19 or 26 you cant go wrong with.

Here is a possible solution for you. Get the glock 23, at the same time order yourself a conversion barrel(either from lone wolf or others)+9mm mag(from cdnn or ombexpress.com). Now with only about $150, you get both .40s&w and 9mm, problem solved. That's what i did for my reason purchase. I want a full size glock in 40, but i also want to save some money on ammo. So i order a g22 from topglock, and conversion barrel from long wolf, plus 2 9mm mag from ombexpress.com. Now every week i will go to range shot 50rd of 40s&w than swap the barrel and shot about 100 to 200 round of 9mm. (I like to shoot higher caliber first. If i do from 9mm than 40, the recoil felt harder.)

Only in case you are wondering, you CANNOT get a glock 9mm and swap barrel for 40. It have to be from 40 to 9mm.

No I have not shot the .40. My plan is to shoot the .40 tomorrow at the gun shop in their range. I know how my .45 and 9mm feel. Does the recoil on the .40 fall somewhere in the middle ?

Pretty much.

Ive shoot both 9, 40, and 45. To me the 40 is a more snappy recoil(depending on what load you use) of the two. The 9 and 45 have a push back recoil. Actually I couldnt tell much difference btw the 9 and 45.:whistling:
