I've heard very positive reviews about The Beltman's belts -- particularly his horsehide ones -- but they're out of my price range at the moment. Please help me find a less-expensive alternative!

What I'm looking for is a stiff, durable, long-lasting gun belt for around $50 or less. Two manufacturers that I've seen in that ballpark are Looper and Aker. I've heard pretty good things about both of them over the last few weeks, but I'm wondering if there are other good belt makers that I haven't considered in the $50-and-under price range.

I'll be carrying a G19 in a C-TAC holster fitted for a 1.5" belt, if that helps.

To keep it simple, I'm looking exclusively at leather belts.

Thanks!

The Filson Double Belt is an excellent choice, and is available for $50-60.

A "quality" product, subject to definition, is unlikely to be found below $50.

The Double Belt is $77.50, which is too much. What's more, the $50-60 Filson belts look about as flexible -- read useless -- as the Tommy Hilfiger belt I bought at Ross for $15.

Thanks anyway.

I have a couple belts and holsters from this man and they are (IMO) of very high quality. Waiting time may vary, but a quick phone call or email should get you a reliable estimate as it did in my experiences.

I carry a G21SF in an Mtac or G31 in a Ctac everyday on my Looper and haven't had any problems since I took a little loctite to the snap holding the buckle on. I've given them as gifts to people that carry Desert Eagles and they love them.

Sorry, I thought you might distinguish the MSRP from "available for." The doubles can indeed be had for $50-60. That's what I've paid for several.

The single-layer, being of a higher overall quality than many other singles, would support the C-TAC. It's not even in the same league as the TH or similar others that you identify.

I don't own stock in Filson, I just wear them. Best wishes in your quest.

I just went to my local Wal-Marts and purchased a stiff and thick "regular" belt for about $20 bucks and it was leather. But I never use it because when I have on a T-shirt the buckle area leaves an imprint like I have a boner :crying: and I am a average weight guy.

Anyone else have the same problem as me? Are real gunbelts thinner and still able to stay rigid?

Check out GunnersAlley.com, they have great deals on real gun belts, and great service too. I own two of their belts. I think that they may be made by beltman. Mine were custom made to my spec, I wanted narrower ones.

For that price, Aker, Looper, or DonHume are about the only good choices. All good leather.

I have the Aker belt. I ordered it from Galls...39.99. It is great. Polymer reinforced and thick. I carry a G23 in an MTAC and the belt works like a charm. And, it's nice looking. Mine's brown. It's 1-1/2" wide. Works great with the C-clips on the MTAC.

Don't get the 5.11 leather belt..they are junk! I have been thru 2 of them...they are not leather! the Permastiff insert is the belt then has a very very thin coating on the outside that looks like leather..I wear leather and kydex holsters and the clips that hold your holster on always tears off the coating leaving white areas....Go with a real leather gun belt...I use a Beltman double bullhide and its awesome! I would like to try a Looper for wearing to work.

I'll be carrying a G19 in a C-TAC holster fitted for a 1.5" belt, if that helps. I have the same setup and I choose Looper's "kydex" belt. I'm sure you already know this since you listed them, but the kydex belt is two pieces of leather with kydex sandwitched between them. The belt does not stretch at all (a bit odd for those used to traditional leather belts) but it is great, comfortable, and inexpensive. I'd highly recommend them.

Don Hume makes a very good belt for the budget minded person.

Looper Kydex here too.

No flex, excellent fit and finish. Total cost shipped was about $40.00.

Time from ordered to my door was under 2 weeks.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the 5.11 leather belts are nice and very affordable.

Looper belts are the best I have ever used. I carry a 21SF in a Serpa 6 days a week, and a 30 in a infidel on Sundays. Its great and they ship very fast, and life time warrenty against warping or stretching.

I like my Looper belts as well. I got a brown belt and a black belt. It took about two weeks to get them.

Maybe it's my Firefox browser, but I don't see the "Available for" price. Either way, thank you for posting the additional info. And my initial "thanks anyway" wasn't intended to be sarcastic, though reading back, the overall tone of my reply was pretty curt. My bad.

Bought a brown Model B-21 9 years ago when I got my HCL, added a black one later. Wore one or the other every day for 6 years & never had a problem. Strong enough to support my G21, 19, or 26 in CTAC holsters.

Recently added a "new" brown B-21 from one of the police supply web sites, delivered was less than $39.

I really don't think you can go wrong...at ANY price!

A good shoe repair shop or leather works type store might be able to assist but I doubt it'll be $50 or less.

That's what I paid for my custom belt somewhere like ten years ago.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice and help.

Looper gets the nod. Now I need some help in getting the right size.

How do I pick the size for a Looper? I wear a size 36 pants to accommodate an IWB rig, but I'm losing weight. Would you normally do a size 38 belt? With me losing weight, should I just go for a 36?

Or perhaps should I use The Beltman's sizing guide. :dunno: :brickwall:

Call them and tell them your waist size in inches and what type of carry and gun they can help you get the right size.

put your rig in/on your pants, get a fexable tape measure, and give them a call...they will walk you though the process...it's easy (pretty much just measure around yourself through your belt loops (around your rig), but sizing on the kydex belt is important since it doesn't stretch.
