View Full Version : Winchester - Ranger vs SXT vs SXZ
Can anyone explain the specific differences and effectivness between the Ranger, SXT and the new SXZ ammunition. My M23 like the 165gr Ranger and I am happy with it, but wondering if the SXT and new SXZ would be just as effective.
Thanks - TEX
SXZ is White Box with a lubalox coating, probably marked up a few dollars a box too. Ranger-T, SXT, anything is better than SXZ. Treat it as you would WWB, it may be good for practice but if you have or can afford anything better for a defensive load you probably should use it.
I don't care what it is called, I would not want to be shot by any of it. I doubt anyone being shot could tell the difference between .40 Ranger, SXT or SXZ. I know it is boring but shot placement matters the most.
My normal carry load in .40 is 165 GD, and 124 HST in 9mm. But if I run low I always have WWB 115/147 HP's on hand and I have no qualms about loading up with that until I restock, which may be awhile.
NG VI is correct. SXZ ammo is WWB USA with black Lubalox...
This ammo SZX question comes up every 15 minutes here -- if people would perform a search they would find that there are MANY threads on this ammunition in various forums here.
**blanket statement warning**
Ranger T is much better performing terminally-speaking than WWB or SXZ.
Would i wanna get shot with it? Duh.. No
I wouldn't want to get shot with a BB-gun or paintball gun either

You can tell the difference between a BB and a .40 cal. bullet though.
