View Full Version : Pennsylvania Conceal Carry
Hello,
I have been looking high and low for the rules and regulations for conceal carry in PA. I have an out of state permit to carry in PA, and I just can't seem to find items like, if I am pulled over by the police do I have to inform them. Are there places I cannot carry, such as rest stops. (I can only assume that I cannot carry in State Buildings.
Does anyone have the link that takes me directly there. I have been to PA's AG site, but cannot seem to find anything.

You do not have to inform cops your carrying. Rest-stop are OK. Same with churches, bars, schools (K-12 and college,) and pretty much any other place besides courthouses. PA is a good state for carry and guns in general. I am not sure about state/federal parks... can anyone answer this?

PA is pretty CCW friendly. I think the gun laws are kept nebulous on purpose. (Allows individual interpretation depending on circumstances (?)).

Primary and Secondary schools are listed as off limits in PA, but there is an exception for "other lawful purpose". There is not any case law on whether a Liscense to Carry for self defense = other lawful purpose. Most instrucotrs will caution you not be the test case.

national parks are currently off limits as per federal regulations...though that is currently under review and likely to be changed soon.
state parks are currently off limits as per a DCNR regulation in PA...it is a summary offense (for breaking a DCNR regulation, just like littering in a state park) to carry in a state park. however, a bill to change this has passed both the state house and senate and will be signed into law soon....woohoo!!
this thread at PAFOA should answer all questions:

Glad I know carrying in state parks isn't any major crime, for some reason I thought it was a really big deal. I think risking a little ticket is minor compared to being unarmed when running into a dirt bag.

And Primary and Secondary schools = K->12, so someone visiting the state probably has no real need to be on grade school or high school property, and you're not really likely to wander there by accident.
State law says nothing about colleges.
Thanks for all the responses, I appreciate it.

Try this site: http://www.usacarry.com/
It's a good reference page. Also Google the State Attorney General page and look it up there to get the most accurate info.
Here is a god link to the Attorney Generals page for PA. There is also a link for FAQ to the PA state police. http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/crime.aspx?id=184
The state police link is here: http://www.psp.state.pa.us/psp/cwp/browse.asp?A=15&BMDRN=2000&BCOB=0&C=70426
