Im in Newton County Georgia...After seeing the probate court, sheriffs dept and 4 weeks later I got my Conceal and Carry Permit. Phyched, I ran out and bout a new belt and hip holster, slid in the 26 and off to work I went.
Bit of weight I wasnt used to but with my normal shirts not tucked in, no one knew. Felt weird but Im sure Ill get used to it.
I was surprised to see how fast Newton County Ga was at getting the permit back considering a lot of others are months on end..
Kudos to my County!

it took me 3 solid moths to get mine. I remember when I carried for the 1st time, I was pretty freaked out but at the same time I felt pretty cool...I had a gun under my shirt...no bad guy had a chance. It's been several years now...it's just another part of getting dressed. -underware - pants/belt -gun...shirt.
(I supposed for some the 1st step is optional but I don't want to hear about it:wow:)
I've had mine since Louisiana first allowed them. Yes, the first time you feel as everyone has you "made". Now it's very natural.
At first I felt a bit self conscious but as the years passed things changed. Now I feel like am walking around without pants on if I don't have a weapon!
St. Louis county took all of 1 week to issue my permit.

After the new feeling of wondering if everybody is going to "make" you wears off and it becomes second nature to wear a gun, take a trip to Disney World or some other high profile place that disallows concealed firearms and carry there. You'll get to experience that feeling of good old paranoia again. It kinda tingles.

Does no weapons signs at Disney World carry any weight with the law or would you just be thrown out if caught? If it's against the law then I wouldn't advocate someone doing that??

Welcome to the sticky world of policy vs. law.
I could be mistaken, but I believe if someone had a "no guns allowed" sign at the door and you went in anyway, it could be a trespassing charge if you get caught?
That's what it was like with the university I went to- they had a strict "no guns" policy, and if they caught you carrying as a student they could expel you, but if you were an average joe citizen all they could do is ask you to leave the premises- if you didn't comply with that request, you could be charged with trespassing and not "carrying unlawfully."

Check your state law. Some state CCW statutes expressly forbid CCW'ing where there is a posted prohibition. That would make it a crime and you'd lose your CHL as well as $$$$$. Other states are silent on the matter, but do you want to be a test case? Know you state laws backwards and forwards; and have a good "gun friendly" attorney on retainer.

I first got my CCW in Virginia back in the 80's. Back then, you had to fill out tons of forms, get fingerprinted, then go before the circuit court judge and get grilled about why you wanted to carry and you had to show cause, and then, 97% of the time they declined anyway. The first time I was declined, I ended up having to hire a lawyer and appeal the decision. It cost me something like $55 for the original application, $10 for the fingerprinting, $700 for the lawyer, and a final $35 to file the appeal. Expenssive lol but I've had it since then. Now, Virginia has passed the "Shall Issue" law, and if you have taken a class, and can legally purchase a handgun, they must issue you a license. So much easier now.

I feel bad for everyone who wants to carry in a "may issue" state. It turns CC into an elitist privilege- "you can concealed carry... if you have the money."

Dukeboy wasn't advocating any illegal activity. I think his point was that if you carry in a place that is legal, but where carry is disallowed by the business, you will get that 'I have a gun' tattoo on your forehead again.
Concealed carry at Da House of Mouse in FL (and every other theme park) is perfectly legal, Resqu2. Yes, they have a 'no weapons' policy. No, 'policies' and signage carry no weight of law in Florida. The state decides what places are illegal for carry.
If you're discovered carrying by Disney security (they are VERY good), you will most likely be escorted to a security office. They'll ask you to a) take the firearm to your car or b) let them lock it up for you until you leave the park. This will all be done in the presence of a local Sheriff's deputy. If you get belligerent, they'll ask you to leave the park. If you keep it up, after they ask you to leave, they WILL trespass your butt, and Mr. Deputy will be more than happy to oblige them.

Thanks for the answer to that, here in VA a sign means nothing to the law unless you are asked to leave and don't. Then it is just a trespass charge, nothing to do with firearms though.

In Florida the signs carry no legal weight, however if they ask you to leave and you don't, it's armed trespass.

In Virginia, if you carry into an establishment that has a posted no firearms sign, Virginia handles it as a trespass violation. Carrying into a place of religious worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being HELD, unless you have " good and sufficient reason." , violation is a minor crime punishable by a fine of up to $100.
Courthouse violation is a high level misdemeanor.
I haven't seen all that many businesses that post no firearms other than Rose's department store, and Cinema Cafe in Hampton, and the occasional pawn shop. All the gunstores I visit have signs up, but they say weapons will either be in holsters secured or locked open. Only one gunstore, in Hampton, has a sign that asks you to inform the clerk your carrying.
I recently took my Niece and Nephew to Chuck E Cheese, and with all the children their, they have no firearms policy posted.
