View Full Version : Sig 232 to back up a G19
I really love the 232, but before I bought it I was wondering if this would make a sensable back up at all to the G19 I carry as a primary. I know the Keltec and LCP are much smaller 380's but I also wanted the 232 as a primary weapon for light carry and a full purchase on the grip might be an advantage. I guess I'm asking if anyone owns both of these weapons and if if it would be worth it to buy the Sig. Is the Sig small enough to go where the G19 can't for light summer carry.
The 232 is an excellent weapon. Excellent quality, small, thin package and great feel. I wish I hadn't sold mine. Hands down the most easily carried firearm I have ever owned. It will certainly be "easier" or more comfortable than carrying the G19. Just depends on how much fire power you want to have.
I sold my 232 for my 27.

I've owned Sigs and was always impressed with them. I say, if that's what you want, go for it.
Personally, I'd rather spend the cash on a G26, or even a snubbie.
The P232 isn't that much smaller than a G19. You might be better off with a snubby or a KelTec.

In "my" opinion, there is a huge difference between the two when carrying all day, every day. It is MUCH slimmer and smaller. Slimmer than any snubby and equal to the keltec as far a size. I guess the thing is to find what 1) what amount of fire power you want.. and 2) physical comfort "size" of the firearm.

I love my 27, but miss the 232.

I have the 230SL. It's far and away better and more reliable than the Kel Tec or anything similar. I trust it as one of my primary carries. It will surely serve you well as a backup gun.

I own both. P232 is MUCH slimmer than a G19. Its slim profile makes it feel like a small gun; it is very easily concealed. I like my G19, but in comparison it feels like I am trying to conceal a brick.
Be aware that while one can take a full purchasee on a G19 grip, doing so may give you slide bite. It does me.
Darn fine gun...I own a 230. But, that said, I would recommed a Kahr PM-45. Thin, light, powerful. My 230 is my current bug, but it will be replaced with a PM-45 as soon as I can get one....

By slide bite do you mean that the support hand thumb is getting hit by the slide? If so you are not supposed to hold an auto loader like a revolver. Place your support hand thumb under your firing hands thumb when you grip and fire it...
