View Full Version : Ammo being held up by customs??
I was shopping for my favorite cheap range ammo and the gentleman told me that the warehouse had 30,000 boxes---that's approx 1500000 rounds---coming but was being held up by the feds in customs. I believe it is ammo produced in Russia or similiar. Monarch is the brand. I have found it very reliable and plenty accurate for range use. It is only $8/50 so I prefer it over WWB and it is brass not steel.
So maybe the rise in ammo prices isn't a result of commodities but rather our Gov't once again putting the supply on hold, jacking up the cost.
Please discuss.

I think Monarch is steel, so maybe he was referring to that.

I wasn't refering to WWB being steel sorry if that sounded confusing.
The monarch has steel and brass. The steel is $6/50 brass is $8/50.
is this 223, or 9mm
9mm
They have .223 ammo both steel and brass. I believe the brass was $7.53/20 and steel is $5.65/20. I have shot the steel cased stuff and in my opinion is better than wolf and silver bear that I have used.
I think the rise in the cost of ammo has more to do with copper going from 60 cents a pound in 2002 to $3.83 cents a pound today. Not to mention that the known lead deposits on Earth will run dry long before oil runs out! (Just heard about that issue last week). As both metals are used extensively by the exploding "global" middle class (consumer products), prices will continue to rise.

when we strengthen the dollar prices will level off or drop for commodities and prices based on commodities like ammo.
