View Full Version : Decided to just do it...and it wasnt' bad at all
Detailed frame strip today for the first time.
Piece of cake. Wondering why I was ever nervous in the first place, how easy!
Are all 3rd Gen Glocks that easy?
Do they all have the same amount of pieces, since they are so simply built?

I ordered several parts on Tuesday and I got home today and they are here.
The bad news is I have NEVER done or attempted the detail strip. I just want to be able to do some basic work on my GLOCK incase a spring breaks, etc...
I am gonna try it soon , I PROMISE!:crying:
What good are spare parts if you don't know what to do with them????
Congrats 360.:wavey:

thats true you have a point but, taking apart a Glock is like changing the channel with the remote on your tv.

I hope I can post how easy it is , instead of please help me....I screwed up.:rofl:
as far as all my other non GLOCK guns...well....I will have to go visit my local gunsmith if they ever
go down. I would not even attempt to work on them. That's another reason I love these GLOCKS.
Well if I would have known there was a button to push and my Glock would come apart. It would have been a little easier..There ya Go OD Gaston.Just push the damn button..
EDIT to add : I just remembered that I did hear about this button. It only works with the .40's and reloads...Ya just push the trigger and the whole thing comes apart....lol..

I'm fairly confident I can get the slide detail stripped but the frame scares me.
If you can detail strip the slide then the frame will be easy.Theres a ton of video on the net. Some good some bad. Google Glock detail strip..

Why detail strip a Glock, when the manual says you don't have to? Get some compressed air, to pressure spray out the junk, do your regular field strip cleaning, and you're good to go. That's all I've done with my Glocks, and I've had no problems whatsoever. I will only detail strip them if a part needs replacing.

All simple, just as 1st and 2nd gens are. Detail stripping is rarely necessary, but it's easy, just remember to do your function checks after reassembly.
