I was inspired by all of the great gun pr0n on this site and decided to snap a few pics of my own. the quality of the pics is not so great but, photography is just not one of my many talents.
I so far I added only the hogue grip and the M3X tac light to the G21 and I have a set of TFO night sites on order for it. Once I get the night sites put on I plan on doing nothing else but feeding it a whole lot of practice ammo. This is my nightstand setup.
As for the Benelli, I bought it for its versatility. I plan on using it for a wide variety of hunting, but I figured it would pull double duty for HD also. So right now I have it loaded up with some 3" 00BK and keep it next to the bed.
Enjoy the pics, I know it is NOTHING compared to most of the collections on here but its a start. Next on my list is either a G19 or a G30 and some CCW training and ultimately my permit!

So far so good.
I would say you are well prepared. That's a lot of firepower.
Nice setup pal. If you need more than that to keep your home safe then you are having one heck of a bad day.

Good choices. But just one suggestion, alot more 12g. ammo
Nice collection...
You know what they say... "size doesn't matter"... that applies to the size of your collection as well.
One could argue a man with only one gun is more dangerous than one with many - because the man with one gun (and enough practice) knows how to use his one gun really well.

I would feel safe tucked into bed for the night with your setup.
The only thing I would change is some kind of bird shot instead of 3” 00 for the Benelli.
There are 3 very precious people behind the walls in my house, and 3” 00 could penetrate walls very easily.
You are on the right track, especially with training.
Have fun.
For the above reason, I prefer #4 birdshot. More pellets, wider dispersion, and pretty much stops through two thiknesses of dry wall with insulation.

I think you need more ammo. :)
Where did you get that tin of ammo? Or is that all reloads?

Nice. You should add a long gun.

Thanks for the suggestions about 12ga. ammo. I actually have several boxes of some light target loads for practice but only bought 10 rounds of 00BK for HD.
As for 3" 00 being overkill in a HD situation, I will keep that in mind. I definitely don't want overpenetration through indoor walls to be an issue. I may have to pick up some lighter birdshot loads as one of you suggested. I guess the only thing I was thinking about was stopping power.
leitung,
I purchased the bulk ammo from Cabelas online store. You get one drybox storage container with every 300 rounds you buy. I had a 40$ gift card for Cabelas and I also found a free shipping code to use when buying. got 600 rounds of 230 gr FMJ .45ACP and the 2 dry storage boxes DELIVERED for $190 (after my $40 coupon). The ammo appears to be reloaded and packaged by ULTRAMAX. If anyone has any reviews on this type of ammo I would love to hear some feedback. As far as I can tell from reading on here, Wolf is the only ammo I am trying to avoid. I have not had a chance to try this stuff out yet. Should be going to the range next week.

I would alternate 00BS and #4 shot in the mag to cover any situation. just a practice I learned a long time ago.Good choise of weapons for a start.

I look at those pictures and think, "You know, this guy's really got it covered. I mean, if you can't get it done with that, you're in some real bad do-do." Then, I sit here and start thinking about some of the stuff I've accumulated over the years, the shear volume of said stuff, and ask myself, "Why?" If I went back 10 years ago to when I had a P-95, a Colt 1991A1 and my Winchester Defender and never bought another thing, I realize NOW that I could be happy today with just those things.
Too late now though.....:whistling:...........for me.......:help::drowning:

That is quite a start!!!:wow:
You should be able to handle any HD problem that comes up. Unless you live in Beirut ....or Detroit.
I'd get a shorter barrel shotgun for ease of moving around in a house, but either way looks like you're set.
We have a little Mossberg 18 incher in the house and the spread on the sucker is just plain scary at 25 yards :P

Actually I agree with you. The 26" barrell does make it vey difficult to manuever in the tight hallway outside of the bedrooms in my house. Thats what the glock is for. I figure I wouldnt really need the Shottie for HD unless the SHTF big time, or barracade purposes. I actually want to be able to use the Benelli for hunting as well.
You need more magazines!!

Excellent setup. That is a fine start to a much larger collection, I'm sure. But be proud of it! They're beautiful, functional tools!

I forgot to include the best part of my home defense set up in my original post. Early warning and a fearless first line of defense is hard to beat no matter what your HD setup. He answers to Magnus, and I wouldnt trade him for ANY arsenal of defense weapons.

I might be wrong , but I think it was Clint with Thunder Ranch, said something like...."You should only use your hand gun to fight you're way back to your long gun, which you should'nt have put down anyway"
Having been through a self-defence shooting in my own home....believe me, you are never too well armed!

Carpenter,
Honestly I would love to have a short barreled shottie that is set up and purpose built for HD. But as stated before I bought the Benelli as a hunting gun and FOR NOW it is pulling double duty. I realize this is not the optimal set up for that purpose but until I can afford to add another shottie to my collection this will have to do. And despite what some may say about long guns...If I hear my dog alert me during the middle of the night the frist thing I am grabbing is the glock off the nightstand. That leaves my wife the shottie to hold onto while she dials 911 and I investigate the situation.

Couple fend off home invader
James and Suzanne Butler had retired for the night Friday when a man who they say had been harassing them for a year kicked in their back door and rushed into their bedroom, armed with a rifle and a handgun.
"He was shooting with the rifle as soon as he came into the bedroom," Butler said in a telephone interview Sunday from his home outside Rolla, Mo. "My wife grabbed the barrel and she got shot, but it allowed me the time to get my gun" from a nightstand drawer.
Butler fired several shots, killing David W. Brown, 45.
"We're very, very lucky," said Butler, 48, who was grazed on the neck. "My wife saved my life by giving me the time to get my gun."
Suzanne Butler, 44, was shot through the hand and upper forearm. Both Butlers were treated and released from the hospital.
"It's certainly a bizarre case," said Sgt. Mark Williams of the Phelps County sheriff's office. "It's like something out of the movies."
About three years ago, James Butler said the couple took pity on Brown, who lived a half-mile from them in a trailer with no electricity and no running water. The Butlers, who live in a rural area about 15 miles southeast of Rolla, gave Brown some odd jobs to do - cutting the grass, clearing out brush.
But then one day in February a year ago, Suzanne Butler reported seeing the man outside her home peering through the window.
Butler said that after telling Brown to stay away, the couple's nightmare began. They were harassed by phone calls with immediate hangups, more suspected peeping, honking horns from passing vehicles and home break-ins while they were away. On Christmas Eve, Suzanne Butler scuffled with Brown when she arrived home and found him coming out of her house.
"Things were getting worse and escalating. Like a moth to a flame, (Brown) wasn't going to go away," James Butler said.
The violent climax happened about 11 p.m. Friday night when Brown broke into the couple's home and confronted the Butlers. Moments later, he was dead and the Butlers were wounded.
At the time, Brown was wanted on warrants for burglary, trespassing and other charges related to the Christmas Eve incident.
"We've tried to arrest him a few times, but he was elusive," said Sgt. Williams.
"The Butlers thought something like this might happen, and they're a little upset with us for not having arrested him."
Williams said the Butlers will not face any charges. He called Suzanne Butler's actions "pretty heroic."
James Butler is a business representative in several counties for a carpenters union. Suzanne Butler works part time at a tanning salon in Rolla.
After the first report of window-peeping, Phelps County authorities went to arrest Brown, but he barricaded himself in his trailer, threatening to kill himself or any deputy who approached. "A negotiator finally convinced him to surrender," Williams said.
Brown underwent a psychiatric examination at a local hospital, and a doctor declared him mentally fit and not a danger to himself or others. Meanwhile, Suzanne Butler got a court order of protection against Brown, but she started getting harassing phone calls at work, her husband said.
James Butler said he hopes for an end to an ugly chapter in the couple's life, but he said he can't be sure. Less than two weeks ago, Butler said he had a confrontation with some relatives of Brown's who were driving by his house and had stopped to curse him.
