View Full Version : Holster for G19
I did do a search on this, but couldn't find anything specific... I currently carry my G19 with a Fobus paddleback holster, which is just all right. I have had occasions where I've went to draw the pistol (at the range) where it didn't want to come out real easy. So I'm thinking I would like to try a belt holster, which might allow more consistent draws, while still being easy to carry.
Any thoughts on which ones?

Slideguard or topless
.....can't beat a Galco Concealment.
Check on flee-bay. IRRC they were $70'ish.
My EDC Kimber 1911 has rode in one of these for four years now. I really doubt if I will ever have to buy a new one. Mine shows hardly any wear and the weapon still fits in as the day it was bought.
Whatever you decide on,remember, this is something that you will be beting your life on. DON'T SKIMP on price or quality.
Thanks for the replies, by the way I carry OWB.

I'm happy with my Don Hume H721OT.

That's a handsome rig, and the price is right. But how well does it conceal? And do you wear a 'gun' belt with it?

OWB or IWB?
Try one of the Comp-Tac paddles. The draw is slick and consistent. These have been my EDC holsters for a few years now for my G23s, and they double as my choice holster for IDPA.

In the fall and winter is conceals quite well. I still use it a lot in the spring and summer, too. With tighter or lighter weight shirts I usually go for my MTAC, but it isn't too hard to conceal with just a loose t-shirt.
I use a Wilderness Instructor belt, the CSM, with the polymer insert when I use my H721OT.

Cool. Yes, it definitely looks like a holster that absolutely requires a GUN belt.

+1 for the Comp-Tac Paddles. Use it when I shoot my G19 USPSA.
Try some Armorall on the Fobus to make a nice smooth draw.

If you like the Fobus holsters try their new Evolution series....comes in belt or paddle.

They are FAR different then the standard Fobus. First there is a tension adjustment screw. You can make it really snug or really loose....and anything in between. Mine comes out with little effort.
Second, they are molded one piece instead of two pieces riveted together.
I have them for quite a few of my guns and love them.....

:cheers:The Glock Sport/Combat holster works very well if you're on a budget.
Galco Concealable is next up on the price/quality list, if you like leather (I do!). Or Nate's UBG OWB product.
My next favs are the Milt Sparks Axiom (or TK), Alessi CQC-S, Kramer Horsehide or any of the Matt DelFatti offerings.
Just my few pennies.

If you want a rigid (kydex/plastic) OWB holster the Blackhawk Serpa in carbon fiber is the way to go. If you want leather your possibilities are only limited to what you want to spend.
+1 for the Blackhawk Serpa in carbon fiber. It's a great holster that holds your gun well, but is very easy to draw from with practice. Just practice it to keep your finger's positioning consistant.
If you're after a leather holster, I use a Blackhawk IWB for IWB carry, but when it's OWB carry I use either a DeSantis Mini Scabbard (AMAZING for OWB concealed carry!) or a DeSantis Thumb-Break Scabbard. DeSantis makes some good holsters.
I'm not a huge fan of Fobus holsters, personally, so I'd suggest you replace it as soon as you can. Even an Uncle Mike's kydex holster would be a decent choice. Their kydex holsters are really an exception to the "get what you pay for" rule, in my opinion.
Also, try out Blade-Tech. Their holsters are great, and they even have a special IDPA package now, in which you get the holster (with belt AND paddle attachments) and a 2-magazine holster.

+1 on this also. This is what I carry and I love it. It has a detachable back for either belt mounted or paddle carry. I leave mine with the paddle mount on 99% of the time.
+! on Comp-tac. Whether IWB or OWB, belt or paddle, they've got a bunch to match just about any need and their customer sevice is the best I've seen in the industry.
