I did some searching and I'm getting ready to order up some HST ammo for my G30.
Question is since the G30 has a shorter barrel, and most of the velocity tests are out of a 5 inch barrel for 45 ACP, should i run the HST 230 +P or the standard? Looks like a difference of 60 FPS from a 5 inch barrel.....Would the +P have that much more recoil or FPS using the +P over standard?
I guess it would be easier to train with standard ball ammo and then carry standard ammo then buy the +P to carry and train with.....!
Anyone know the approximate FPS of HST and HST +P out of a G30?
Info about other brands is fine though for some reason i'm partal to the HST.....
Any Info would be great......TIA

Because the HST isn't bonded, you're probably safe getting the standard pressure HST. In fact, that's what I ws looking for when I began shopping for HST. The store I ended up finding it at only had it in +P and so that's what I got and continue to get. Personally, I'd get the +P for use out of the 30 because that should be getting you back into the velocity all those great results come from using a 5" barrel. The place I'm getting them (a retailer) has them for $26.99 a box in +P. You may be able to do better online.:wavey:

I'd stay with the standard pressure, +p isn't worth the extra recoil

I'm getting low on carry ammo for my 9mm and 45.
I'm going to buy 500 each of the HST standard for my MK9 and G30.
From all the research that I've read, the +p is a lot of extra BOOM with very little benifit.
You want to be able to have a fast, accurate follow up shot always.
The Winchester and Horady +p I've shot out of my G30 for testing, makes it harder than I like.

Based on my chronograph results, Remington Golden Saber 230 grain:
GLOCK 21 - 834 feet per second on average, with 842 high and 828 low, five shots
GLOCK 30 - 797 feet per second on average, with 804 high and 788 low, five shots
I am confident in either one, although I choose not to carry the G21 concealed these days, since getting the G30.

Thanks for the info guys/gals.......I got some 230 HST on the way. I picked up a box of the 230 HST +P just to see the difference in the recoil.....Thanks again

I agree, shot placement is still #1. The Glock 30 is the most accurate of my glock guns.
