View Full Version : Is the Glock acc. rail Picatinny or weaver?
Hey all... I figured this would be easy info to find, but I haven't been able to find anything definitive...
Is the Glock Accessory Rail a Picatinny sized rail, or Weaver??
Thanks all!

I found this doing a google search...
The recoil groove on Picatinny rails is .206. Not plus or minus, but .206 if the manufacturing was done correctly. Weaver base recoil slots are plus or minus .180, again, depending on the manufacturer, and with a certain amount of leeway. So, Weaver scope rings will fit on Picatinny bases, but Picatinny rifle scope rings will not fit on Weaver rails. That's how it's supposed to work. Unfortunately, manufacturers and consumers interchange the monikers, occasionally resulting in non-compatible components.
Helps with the difference, but haven't found anything conclusive on which one is used on the Glocks...
Stay tuned... ;)

Looks like the Glock rail is Picatinny, not Weaver...
If anyone has anything claiming the opposite, please post up...

If GLOCK rails are picatinny, why does the 21SF picatinny looks so different than the regular GLOCK rail?:whistling:
I would say Glock rails are a weaver style. Picatinny rails have multiple mounts.
I believe it is the same size as the Pic rail, but doesn't have the 'ladder' groves to secure multiple accessories in place.

The G21SF has a picatinny rail, but Glock has named it a 1913 rail. The latest G21SF/30SF has a standard rail just like the rest, however I've yet to see a 21SF with a standard rail. I learned this while trying to find a Blackhawk Serpa holster for mine. The Blackhawk catalog has a Duty II holster which fits the Glock 21SF with the 1913 rail. The red sticker on my plastic Glock case describes my G21SF w/1913 rail. The Duty II holster is not a quick draw holster and does'nt come with a paddle. Instead it comes with a belt mount dissimiliar than the CQC holster. However, my CQC accessories fit the Duty II holster(not a perfect match w/hardware.) FYI
Glock did not come up with the term 1913 rail, that has been the military designation for the rail system for quite some time...

I thought that the Glock rail was, just that, a Glock rail. Maybe not.

Same here. I've always thought of it as the "Universal GLOCK Rail".
Man oh man... I didn't realize I was going to open up such a pandoras box...
One of the hits I got stated that the G21sf had a Picatinny rail, and I made the assumption (Yea, I know!) that all the Glocks had the same rail...

The Glock rail on all my Glocks mics at 0.154. The pic rail on my 21SF mics .206.

I'm in the market for a G30SF. So what size rail did this gun end up with?

The G30SF has the standard GLOCK rail. Only the G21SF has the picatinny rail option.
