Get a smaller gun or a better holster.

I can conceal a 4" 1911 with just a t-shirt using a Milt Sparks VersaMax II. I don't like carrying it because it's just too big to haul around. I prefer a J-frame in my front pocket.

My wife's grandfather wears a fanny pack. Personally I am not going to carry a gun I can't comfortably (fashion included) conceal. For me I just keep my P32 in my pocket with an uncle mike's holster.

I have been wearing fleece vests long before I got my carry license (but not in the summer). LL Bean, North Face and REI make some nice vests that dont look tacti-cool.

I am partial to the excellent vests from Concealed Carry Clothiers. I especially like the pocket carry holsters for small gun, mag, OC or combatlite carry.

+1, but tough in the summertime.

Basically it's Guy Abera season. As best you can. The (frustratingly made in China) Woolrich Tactical shirts are VERY nice. I got 2 from LAPolice and it was very cool. T-shirt under just to keep things cool.

I have the Tropic. They work well. Even the Secret Service uses them, which got me in trouble once. :)

Depending where you live, the ROTHCO SAFARI (http://www.essentialapparel.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodshow/vid/38905/catid/56/Rothco-Safari-Deluxe-Outback-Vest--Khaki) vest blends in. I'm in the rural midwest, and everyone considers it a fishing vest.

Sub compact in a smartcarry worn at 4:00 is what I do, and I can conceal all summer long in shorts and a normal fitting tshirt, and I am a small framed guy, if I can do it, anyone can.

I carry OWB, so I wear vests in the summertime and fall. Khaki or olive. I also have black. These are the ones I wear. Everybody who knows anything knows I' got a gun. So what?
I'm supposed to have a gun. I carry my BUG in my vest.

I usually wear a Campco vest whether or not I have a gun or not. I just like a lot of pockets for my stuff.

The only people they scream "gun" to are cops and people who lurk on internet gun forums.

Neither of which effect my decision making at all as I don't break laws, and I long ago quit worrying about how others felt about how I dress.

Any of the photog/ fisherman's vests do tend to look dorky. I really don't think that they scream gun though because most people are just too oblivious to notice their surroundings.....and I wouldn't care if they did anyway.
In cooler weather I do use a western cut vest. I have several that are of good quality. Not only do they do a great job of concealing my gun, but I like the extra pockets.

in the summer ALL vests look dorky and say im carrying a gun, so why try to hide it with a vest? there are other ways to hide your gun with a little style like a sports jacket. yeah, its a vest with sleeves but it doesnt scream dork.

if the vest option is just so you comply with the law about concealing your gun i guess its ok, other than that if you wear a vest you only need your N.R.A. ball cap and Glock Team t-shirt, and 5.11 pants to finish the commandowannabe ensamble.

"If the vest option is just so you comply with the law about concealing your gun, then I guess it's okay."

No no, this isn't a legal requirement used to hide a big frame semiautomatic pistol and some spare mags, so I can protect myself in case the dope fiends and convicts I'm daily surrounded by try to murder me. Actually we're bringing sexy back, wearing these vests all the time.

Jeans jacket, windbreaker, hawaiian shirt, hoodie, there's pretty much no existing option that isn't better than a vest. Vest is synonymous with dorky. Even if it doesn't scream gun to people, it will make you stand out (while they're s******ing and pointing at the dork with the vest) -- even the leather biker vest is stupid unless you're riding a harley and even then, unless you have the rest of the look to pull it off you look like a poser.

In the winter you can get away with an insulated vest without looking like a dork, but then you might as well wear a jacket. There are no situations where a vest is going to be the best concealment option.

ETA: the word that got asterisked out was totally not a bad word. It was a synonym for snickering. I wonder if this site asterisks out niggardly, too. (Nope!)

I have carried my glock a the 1 o clock position for three years I find that to be the best for me. My holster is the main reason for that, it is a orca holster made out of Tacoma Washington I don't think the make them anymore though. If anyone has heard of this brand let me know where I can buy one.

OD you hit it right on the head. Speculation is correct. Call me a nerd or dork, I have had several prople compliment me on my vest. They had no idea it was hiding a handgun. The correct vest can make casual look a little more dressy, without being really dressed up.:wow:

Golf vest works just fine. Check this one out (http://www.golfdayonline.co.uk/index.php?proId=180&golf=Adidas_ADIDAS_CLIMA-SHELL_FULL_ZIP_WIND_VEST/_NAVY_&_GREY). I've been using this for few years now.

Not a "vest", but a decent alternative:

http://www.m6trading.com/products/MLB/JERSEYS/84021-CHW-BLK/eBay01.jpg

Between baseball and football season, these blend in pretty well.... I leave mine unbuttoned and it just looks a little "sloppy"... Stick to the dark colors. If you can find one for your local team, even better..

My gun is legit, as is my permit I could care less if LE thinks I am carrying. Course I wouldn't be caught dead in any vest I have seen here, although I do own a Carhartt vest I wear at work when it gets cold.

Want to look "non-gun" when wearing a vest? Include some fishing stuff on it and you'll look like you're just an avid fisherman. :) I know a fellow that did that at times. He didn't wear it everyday, but he had a 5.11 vest with some different things on the vest to make it appear that he was simply out for a fishing day. Threw on an old ball cap or a fishing hat and he was good to go. Of course, I don't know your age, but he was already retired so it worked for him. He simply fit right into the sterotype everyone had of good ol' boys his age. Of course, he was retired LEO and had shot competitively for 20 years, so someone would have gotten a big surprise if they'd marked him as that stereotype.

Anyway, if it works for you, then you might want to try.
