View Full Version : Going to NJ
I'm flying to jersey next month for a week. Will I be able to bring my pistol or are guns completly banned? I know there is no carry but what about bringing it for in the house I'll be staying at.

IANAL.
While it is IMO legal for you to have your pistol in your residence in New Jersey you do not want to bring it on an airplane that arrives or departs from New York or New Jersey unless you enjoy time in the State Prison.
You could fly into Philadelphia and rent a car and drive to where you will live in NJ. From then on, until you leave NJ for good, do not take the gun out of your residence (unless you get a NJ firearems ID, then you can take it to a range to shoot) at all. Do not have any hollow point ammo.

You have to be very careful when traveling to another country like Jersey.
Avoid their airports, no hollowpoints, no carrying or transporting within the state once you get there, the left lanes are for passing only, careful on the circles, hold your breath when passing through Newark, don't even try to pump your own gas, and buy as little as you can while there because the sales taxes contribute to a hostile government.
If I didn't have family there I would avoid it at all costs.
Geez, are they commies? I usually drive and bring my pistol but I'm flying into Atlantic City this time so I guess I'm going "naked"

This is just in case you are not kidding about driving to New Jersey armed or with a loaded weapon. I need to tell you to never do that again. If you are ever caught, you will be not so politely arrested and will go to jail. New Jersey firearms laws are draconian at best. You are only allowed to have a firearm from home to range and range to home. No exceptions. There are some exceptions for competions and hunting, the following rules still apply. You have to have the firearm and ammunition in separate cases. That's right, they can't be in the same case. They don't even like the ammo in magazines. Good luck. Counting down until I move to a more gun friendly state.
The answer is simple. NO!

I'm sorry....:tongueout:
Can't really help you on NJs gun laws, but I do believe there is a NJ Trooper that posts in CT..
