Glock pistols have had two different finish types - a matte phosphate and (insert coined term for current finish).

Note that "Tenifer" is NOT finish - it is a heat treatment known as carbonnitriding. Please refer to this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenifer).

The matte phosphate finish was used from the beginning of production to 2002 when the (insert coined term for current finish) transitioned in around the EUGxxxUS range.

Are they still tenifer treated? People say they are now using Nitriding, is it the same process with another name?

My Gen 1 G17 (DCxxxUS) born and bought in 1988 has flat phosphate finish that looks and feels different from my G36 (DYMxxxUS) and G32 (EEDxxxUS) glossy matte finish born and bought in 2000 and 2001, respectively. My G23 (NZNxxx) and G19 (PARxxx) born in 2009 and 2010 (both bought in 2010) has glossy matte finish similar to the 2000 and 2001 GLOCKs.
