View Full Version : .380 ball ammo best?
There are two types of ammo that I feel are effective for my .380 P3AT BUG (or sometimes my only gun). I have Corbon JPH and hot loaded standard ball ammo...they both have very different benefits but just short of loading them alternately in a mag I am at a loss what to choose.
Any ideas between Corbon JPH or ball ammo in small caliber pistol? Suggestions are greatly appreciated for my liittle BUG :dunno:
Ball ammo has a tendency to ricochet.
JHP don't tend to ricochet as much...
I stick with JHP for my carry pistols...

I've had good results with Remington Golden Sabers in my P3AT. Reliability has been fine, and I've heard about very good results. I figure if the 102gr bullet does not expand enough, it is heavy enough for decent expansion.
I've also heard that Corbon designed one of their .380 loads for use in the P3AT. Which one I don't remember.

Lots of tests and opinions around on mousegun calibers
I also like the Remington Golden Sabers and have read about many tests that suggests this heavyweight is worth its weight...
Corbon DPX is respected in some circles but it feels a little weak to me.
I also shoot Santa Barbara JSP spanish military surplus

its hot and fast. Not FMJ but basically the same
Corbon powerball in my P3at, 1200 fps measured. But I do understand the point about ball ammo in such a low powered round.
When I carried my Walther PP clone, I carried hardball. I just didn't think the lower powered 380 would expand that much. I never felt underarmed. I do plan on getting a Ruger LCP, and will probably get HP's when that comes around, though. I've seen that they at least expand a little if you get a decent brand.
I like the 380 Speer GoldDot due to the bonded jacked. It also feeds in my Colt Mustang which had problems with Hydrashok (blunt tip).

I use Speer Gold Dot in the Bersa .380, 100% reliable in my pistol and shoots great.
