Does anyone make a 10 round flush fit 1911 magazine? If so are they reliable? why are 1911 magazines such a tough decision?

If so are they reliable? why are 1911 magazines such a tough decision? seanmac45 06-26-2008, 07:59 It's not possible to have a flush fitting 10 round magazine. They all extend below the frame, some more than others. I have had good experiences with the Wilson model. Jim Watson 06-26-2008, 08:07 1911 magazines are a tough decision because there are so many copies, knockoffs, and mutant guns, and as many or more magazine makers. Everybody thinks he knows better than John Browning and the US Army so you run into all sorts of strange incompatabilities. Usingmyrights 06-26-2008, 11:27 Yes. The Kimber BP10 is a flush fitting 10rd gun. bac1023 06-26-2008, 11:30 Does anyone make a 10 round flush fit 1911 magazine? If so are they reliable? why are 1911 magazines such a tough decision? That's not going to happen. On a single stack, that is. El_Ron1 06-26-2008, 11:46 why are 1911 magazines such a tough decision? Because people make it difficult. http://how-i-did-it.org/magazines/index.html http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=11580 http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=26407 Jim Watson 06-26-2008, 14:17 The Kimber BP10 is a flush fitting 10rd gun. Yes, but it is not a 1911. Usingmyrights 06-26-2008, 14:19 Yes, but it is not a 1911. Not a true 1911. Dang close though. fredj338 06-26-2008, 14:20 Nope, the best you will get is 8rds. Wilson's or McCormick PowerMags work the best IMO. aglocker1911 06-26-2008, 14:59 My Wilson KZ also uses a flush fit 10 rd mag!:whistling: If it's NOT a 1911, someone better tell Wilson about it. Let's face it, there are very few 1911's being sold today that could be considered "true" 1911's, depending on what criteria you use. I guess it's a case of "that which we don't understand/agree with, we belittle!":tongueout: Oh btw, since we're being picky here. Wilson 47s and McCormick Powermags aren't "flush" fitting mags either, they both have bumper pads and extend below the frame of the gun> Forgoten214 06-26-2008, 15:19 Hmmm, Does anyone have any example pictures of a 10 round magazine in a 1911? {Single Stack} griggrt 06-26-2008, 15:53 http://www.bren-ten.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/10rd-mag_inserted.jpg Forgoten214 06-26-2008, 22:58 http://www.bren-ten.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/10rd-mag_inserted.jpg Thank You, I was just curious of how it looked. Whats the difference between the 8 and 7? Is either of witch have a better feed reliability factor than the other?? I have heard mixed about them. CAcop 06-27-2008, 10:46 The difference between 7 and 8 rounders is what they have done to get more rounds in the gun. A few makers extend the mag body about half an inch then habe the floorplate go up around it. Others will tweak the follower, split followers like the CMC Shooting Star followers come to mind. Others make the springs sort of collapse the top half into the bottom half. I just use the cheap 7 rounders that Metalform makes for Springer. I bought a bunch when I bought a loaded using their coupon. I also have a couple Wilson 47D mags that everyone likes but they really aren't that special when the Metalforms work just fine. The next mags I get will be 10 rounders but I haven't figured out which ones yet. I'm thinking CMC, Wilson, or Metalform. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
