View Full Version : Which .308
I'm wanting/needing a .308...
I'm wanting an HK91 or Clone, but I find myself really drawn to the FN Special Police Rifle with the 20" fluted barrel, like this....(see Attachments)
And I'm probably going to trade my customized Bushmaster in my Avatar for it...
Any other thoughts out there for a med to long range shooter in .308?
What do you guys think of HOWA?....

How much money can you spend?
One of the key-questions in the world, right?
Here is my quick Bang for Buck rating:
Out Of The Box:
1 Tikka
2 Savage, Steyr
3 Howa, Remington
4 CZ, ...
Not out of the box --With a little help from a fine gunsmith: Remington
In the late 90s I had a chance to check out Howas and I thought they were underrated.

i have an FN SPR and couldnt be happier with it, it shoots sub MOA all day long with match ammo if i do my part, you definatly wont be dissapointed
... it seems that you like that bushmaster alot so if you dont have to sell it, dont u'll probably regret it
good luck with your decision

Depending if you can afford it I would say a M1A. Maybe?

FN Special Police Rifle is the better of the two.
If you're going to get a .308 in semiautomatic choose M1A or FAL. Both are superior to the HK91 unless of course you want to buy for the HK name.

I coulda swore I saw some posts from you a while back saying you would never get rid of your custom bushy that and your Steyr. Normally I wouldn't have noticed but that is a unique rifle and I had to look it up to find out about it and I always check out the threads that mention MA1s.
i had a 528 dollar Savage model 10 with a 26 inch bull barrel that shot multiple consistant three round groups of right under an inch at 200 yards from the bench with 168 grain FGMM. That's .5 MOA out of a inexpensive rifle. The scope was by far the more expensive portion of that set up.

Yea, .. I don't really want to... but have no $$ and really need a .308 to round out my collection... I'll probably just save my money.
The main reason I said I'd never sell it was because I won't get my money out of it... But a trade for an equal weapon.. that's kind of a horse of a different color in my mind.... /shrug
the Steyr is still in the safe though.

I'm planning on buying a Super Sniper and giving it a go.... shouldn't be over $400

I had a DPMS LR-308 (24" fluted, stainless, bull bbl) that was sub-MOA from day one. I went with the LR-308 because a few of the guys on FSN were real happy with how they shot right out of the box and were using them for shooting competitions out to 600 yards.
