Thank you fredj338 06-27-2008, 12:01 I like the GS line of ammo in any caliber. The 124gr+p is as good as most & better than some. NG VI 06-27-2008, 12:11 Sounds good to me, I have some 185 Golden Saber and 180 Golden Saber and I like it. LABMAN 06-27-2008, 22:54 Golden saber is a good round in most calibers. glock20c10mm 06-27-2008, 22:59 What do you think of Remington Golden Saber 124 grain +P Brass Jacketed Hollow PT in a G26 9mm? Thank you Are they bonded, or no? Rugby 06-28-2008, 06:11 Are they bonded, or no? They are brass-jacketed instead of copper. GS's are available both bonded and not. GS are excellent cartridges and I wouldn't hesitate to use them in any firearm I own. Of particular interest to you specifically, g20, is Remington's claim that, "Golden Saber HPJ releases energy over a longer distance." If I understand your thinking, you want immediate (or as close to immediate) release of energy as possible to enhance BPW effects (provided the bullet penetrated ~12"). This link provides information for the bonded and non-bonded versions. (http://www.remingtonle.com/ammo/gshpj.htm) glock20c10mm 06-28-2008, 14:12 They are brass-jacketed instead of copper. I knew they come both ways, just didn't know which ones the OP had on hand. Just figured I'ld probably give a different answer depending... You know, like, compared to what?, compared to what "standard" distance of penetration that max expansion "usually" occures in? I try to rationalize it, and figure you could get a bullet to go an extra bit before max expansion occures, maybe by changing hollow point depths, diameter of hollow point opening, hardness of lead.......but after is all said and done, I wish it was spelled out for us how much of a difference there actually is. Plus, is it just marketing hype, and maybe it doesn't "really" do anything different than most any other design......just like Hornady claiming controlled expansion with the XTPs. It can mean different things to different people, and a lot of the time with something like "controlled expasion", that will commonly only work out within a certain velocity window. Like when/if you load up a Golden Saber, bonded or not, in a 10mm at "full power", does it still release energy over a longer distance, OR, does it dang near explode on open of the hollow point cavity, almost immediately, like most any other bullet design. I guess this is where backyard testing comes in. Anyway, I think you catch my drift; Is there really a difference because they said there was, OR, not really? Where's their "gel testing" to prove it to us over any other design..... SIGShooter 06-29-2008, 18:41 Awesome ammunition! Never had a problem with the GS line from Remington. Boris Bush 06-29-2008, 19:06 I killed 6 deer with Golden Sabers. One was 147 and one was 124 +P bonded the rest were 124 +P regular. They all killed the same and I never did get the expanded bullet back. Weights were 110-140 pounds. The 147 was a spine shot the rest were shoulder shots and all were drop on the spot. Infact the last deer I ate was killed by the Bonded one...... Ak.Hiker 06-29-2008, 22:17 Remington Golden Saber is very good ammunition. I like them in both my 40 S&W as well as my 45 acp. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
