I was at the range today, mostly firing my 9's, making sure the 34 will hit for the upcoming IDPA matches this Saturday and Sunday. Well I decided to put some ammo through my 23 (my main carry gun), and I had one squib round. It felt as if I had fired a BB gun or maybe a 22 with a light load or a CB round. The gun barely recoiled, The case was not ejected. Fearing I might have a bullet stuck in the barrel, I field striped the pistol, but everything was fine.
See the picture attached. The fired case on the right is the one in question. The one on the left is a normal expended case from my 23.
All I can think is I had a round with to little gun powder to result in a normal cycling of the action, but just enough to force the bullet down with enough force to clear the end of the barrel. Any thought on the funny primer strike? I have always thought it was the pressure of ignition that caused the rectangle primer strike in a glock, seem to be the case here.
