I went out to have some fun with my Century built Yugo AK and I had previously decided that I wanted to see how it groups with ammo that sucks less than Wolf. So I picked up some white box Winchester.
My first sign of trouble was in trying to clear the weapon. The bolt was stuck closed. Since I was the only person on the range, I just removed the mag and fired the round. I assumed that there was some Wolf lacquer build up in the chamber. I had a second occasion to need to clear and make safe. Since I was no longer alone, I gave the bolt a sharp thump...and just the case came out leaving the action filled with spherical powder (oh joy). A firm tap of the cleaning rod got the bullet out. It was marked with rifling. Sooo, I quit the AK for the day.
I got home, made sure that all the functioning parts were spotless (I'm going to be cleaning powder out of the nooks and crannies for years) and tried to chamber a round from another box (sadly, same lot number) and again the bullet went far enough into the leade to get stuck.
I'm going to contact Winchester in the morning but in the meantime, has anyone else seen anything like this?
