just wondering about this gun a friend of mine has one he wants to get rid of-its almost new condition,i have never owned a 1911, i was just wondering about the reliabilty, ease of teardown to clean and everyones overall opinions of the gun,thanks in advance
Which kind of SA 1911? Champion? Loaded? etc

Like asked above, which model? SA makes lots of 1911's.
In general, they are excellent guns. I've got a Mil-Spec (now customized) that has over 2500 rounds through it without a malfunction.
ill have to find out tommorow, i know it stainless and in like new condition, it will be used for carring in the woods and in the truck

I have the GI and Mil-Spec, both have been rock solid so far with no issues.

A stainless GI? I'd say get it. Should be reliable out of the box. If not you do have a lifetime warranty with SA.

Yeah, that's the GI, unless he changed the grips on another. Its a good quality 1911.
