I was trying to decide between the same two myself. I decided I am going to get the CBOB. :wavey:
So there is my suggestion.

I like the looks of the Dan Wesson better, but Colt has the name.
Just my $20,000 x 10^-6

About 2 months ago I bought the exact same Colt Commander from buds,Except it has the updated novak style sites, since then I sent the slide off to Trijicon for some night sights installed,as far as accuracy and reliability both have been excellent so far(knocking on wood)I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

As a matter of fact, thats my comment on the colt, Calvin H. The colt is a series 80,which is still a good 1911.
I say CBOB, but I'm prejudiced, I have one on layaway with a few hundred left.
Having them both, I think the DW is the better gun and the better value, even though its slightly more expensive. My experience has shown that its more accurate, tighter, and has a better fit and finish than the Colt has.
My CBOB did take a few rounds to break it in, being that it was so tight.
One advantage Colt has is that it will hold its value better, but the DW is a finer 1911.
I think its looks nicer than the Colt as well. I like bobtails.

I forgot to ask, are the frames to the DW made in the Czech Republic?

Well, they are cast frames. I believe the rough castings are imported and then cut, grooved, and finished at Dan Wesson. Since CZ is a Czech company, it wouldn't surprise me if the castings originate from there. The CBOB and Pointman 7 were both introduced after the CZ buyout.
Now the new Valor and 40ss use forged frames, but they also cost a few hundred more.

Hey, I'm always happy to help! ;)
Just get the CBOB, you won't regret it.
Here's one last pic for you.

Those are two good choices. It is hard to pick just one. You should get both.
But I think you should get the bobtail first.
i was having a tough time making the same decision about 2 weeks ago but for the full sized models, my solution: i bought em both. i fondled the pm7 for the first time today and the fit/finish on it is awesome but then again ive never seen a baer or anything else. a cbob may be next on my list, dan wesson is pretty impressive.....

...I hate you man. Every time I see one I want it "nownownow". If I just chill out and wait a few more weeks I won't be stressed with cash when it comes to purchasing.

Always wait. Its not worth getting stressed over. There are plenty of CBOBs to go around.

Yeah, but I could be cuddling with one right now. Oh man, that'd make my Kimber really jealous.

Bac, that is another reason I want the Valor. Forgings have far better molecular structure than a casting.

Well, that's another reason to give the Kimber a fair warning.

out here in california i can only register 1 a month so im gonna have to wait 30 to get the colt
I vote for the CBOB.
I think its one of the best looking pistols available. Nice features for the price and built for carry. I'll buy one when funds allow.

I'd go with the Colt.....because of the name. Honestly. It's the better collector.

I go with the Dan Wesson. I don't own oone, but got to look at one a while back and all I can say is wow. Excellent workmanship.
Both would be excellent guns. If I bought the Colt I'd have to fit a proper beavertail though.
i want the Dan Wesson 10mm bobtail:drool:
you got one Bac?
.....what am i sayin, of corse you do:supergrin::wavey:
