View Full Version : Q: Keep P2000sk or send back?

I ordered a LEM P2000sk in .40cal from a company for a good price. I called several times before and they didn't have any .40's in stock, but this time they did.
Well, I received a .357sig. They claim that the .40cal wasn't the one on sale when I ordered, so they don't believe I ordered a .40. Well, that's the only reason I ordered it. - (After several calls...) the company is willing to send me a .40cal barrel to compensate, or I can ship the gun back and actually get a .40cal P2000sk.
I plan to shoot .40cal --- and maybe, possibly, shoot .357sig, but it's not going to be my main round.
So, do I send the gun back and get the one marked .40cal on the slide, and gun that's made to shoot the .40cal, which I plan to carry?
Or, do I take the deal and get the second barrel so I don't have to deal with shipping the gun back and another transfer fee? I'm told that there is not any difference between the P2000's in .40 and .357sig besides the barrel.... ?

that's easy, take the free .40 barrel. you would probably have to ship back at your expense, but even if you didn't, you still come out ahead
by the way, who did you order the pistol through?

everyone agrees with the above? Or just doesn't have an opinion?

Dude, they are giving you a free barrel - take a deal. Its two calibers in one. Not sure how much 357sig barrels run for HKs, but I just ordered one for my Sig P229 for $190 or so.

I'd keep the gun and take the barrel. Its the same gun other than the barrel. Oh and ease up a little.
if the 40 cal barrel is going to be free then it is a no brainer who are you getting it through they sound like good people to me that are trying to make up for a mistake
Keep the gun and take the free barrel man and enjoy your new H&K. You can switch barrels and calibers at will. The mags are the same for both calibers. Why send it back? What does it matter if the guns says .357 Sig on the side. I must have at least 5 different guns in .40 that I've bought .357 Sig barrels to convert back at forth as I wish.

Keep the gun. Take the .40 barrel. You can practice with the .40 and carry and on occasion shoot the .357. Two for the price of one as they say.

Take the .40 barrel.
I can't believe this is even a question.

Oh! Sorry!!! -- I had less than 30 seconds earlier today and checked this without any responses, so that's what I wrote. Sorry that it sounded bad!
---Thanks for all the responses so far. I just wondered about how much I can trust to carry a gun that was made for a different calliber. But, if everyone says they're perfectly fine to switch back and forth, I'll get the barrel!
Thanks! (and sorry again about sounding harsh!)
everyone agrees with the above? Or just doesn't have an opinion?Yes to both questions.
.
Take the .40 barrel.
I can't believe this is even a question.Yours is the logical decision. Barring that, he should have broached this topic on HKPro.com that discusses H&K weapons.
Then again, there are probably people who take their Fords to Chevy dealers for service.

I guess I could relate the question to something like:
I ordered a G23, and received a G32. I want to carry the .40cal. The seller's willing to send me a G23 barrel to make up for it.
Now, if I was only planning to use the gun for range purposes, then I'd take the barrel. But, I didn't know if there was anyone out there that was going to say, "no, if you're going to carry the .40 cal, you need the G23" ... (reliability issues... legal issues... ect...)

the only issue i could think of is IF (i don't know if they do) h&k uses different magazine followers between the .40 and 357 sig. if the followers are the same, you should have no issues

The barrels are interchangeable. The only difference is that the slide will say .357 Sig instead of .40 S&W. Otherwise the barrels are interchangeable.
For me it would be confusing to have a gun chambered in two calibers. I would exchange the gun for a .40 S&W so that the gun would be in .40 and the barrel would match. I just am paranoid about getting mixed up as well as I am OCD in that I want my guns to match up.

It would annoy my OCD to see .357 on the side, but I'd keep it and the free barrel..

I finally got ahold of them today and let them know to send me the free barrel. -- I also ordered two 12 round P2000 mags with it so I can feel better about owning an auto that 'only' holds 9+1 rounds! (I live in a free state!) (They sure made me feel special that I got free shipping with the mags. I mean, they were already shipping the barrel for free!)

 -- We'll have to see what it's like shooting .40cal and .357 out of this little guy!
I noticed that CDNN Sports has that exact same gun in a "COMBO" barrel set up. The pistol comes with both 357 barrel and 40 s&w for the P2000sk with the decocker/variant 3. I wonder if any dealers decide to order some of these from where ever, and try and keep the other barrel for themselves. I am not saying your dealer did this, but I know a few I have frequented and I would not put it past them.

That's one reason I didn't "jump" on the decision to get the 2nd barrel --- because I knew I could get a refund from these guys, and go to CDNN and get the .357sig-marked gun with both barrels for the same price. (except mine is LEM trigger - V2)
Once I get the barrel in the mail, and everything is done, I will tell the whole story/experience with this popular online dealer. :steamed:
Update? Given the burning face, I take it something was not to your 100% satisfaction!

Dont' worry! I haven't forgot about this thread! I'm glad to see others haven't either.
Can you guess?! Still isn't done. -- I did finally get the barrel in the mail on the 19th, when I was told I'd get it by the 7th. But, I only got ONE of the two P2000 12rnd mags that I paid for separately!
A second gun that I ordered at the same time as this one, finally came over two weeks AFTER I was told my dealer would have it. --- Also came WRONG.
Now waiting on my second mag... and things for the second gun. We'll see how long this takes.
I really didn't want to tell the whole story until this is all done. (...In the case they do come back and compensate me for all my lost time with this mess. )

Almost forgot to update this thread. -- I posted a review. I gave these guys too much time, and was probably too patient. I thought I was being nice, leaving their name out of the story until now, in hopes that they would make it right.
