Just got an order of 165gr gd from double tap in yesterday. I shot them out of my g27 with a g23 barrel. They were very accurate and you could tell you were shooting a hot load. I then put my g32 barrel in an shot some 125gr. from WW. I think I might switch from carrying the sig round(sxt) to the 40 gold dots.(very impressive).

Have you shot any Double Tap .357sig Gold Dot in 115-, 125-, or 147-grain through your G-32 barrel?

Yea, I'm with unit1069. Shoot the DT loads in 357SIG before making that decision(all bullet weights)!

So all of these miraculous stories we hear about the SIG are lies, or were all these cops using DT?

Quite a few people who have chronographed DT have concluded that they were misled by the advertised velocity numbers. Just because the recoil impressed you doesn't mean they're "hot".

I will be ordering DT 125gr gd's next week just to see if I cant live without them. I just think your better off practicing with what you carry and 40cal is a cheaper round to practice with allthough DT's hot sig round's in hollowpoints are not that much different than WW's target rounds in sig. As for as accuracy they are the same to me.

Never tried the DT Gold Dot loads in my 40. I have been very happy with their 158 grain Gold Dot load in 357 Magnum. The 158 grain Gold Dot bullets expand and still stay together for deep penetration. Not sure of the velocity but both my 6 inch and 3 1/16 inch revolvers like the loading from DT.

Not at all. The only reason I specifically mentioned using "...DT loads in 357SIG.....(all bullet weights)!" is because it will give him a chance to use the round in 3 different bullet weights as opposed to 1 by most any other ammo manufacturer besides Hornady which offers 2.
On the Winchester load I was screwed up. I think the Ranger T in 357SIG is very good. I do think their bonded rounds suck though. Sorry.

Have we seen that with 357SIG or more 10mm than anything? We also have others saying the DT advertised velocity numbers are close to right on. Why variations, I don't know. Can't wait till I actually get a chronograph myself, buuuuuuuut, I guess I'll have to.:crying:
As far as; "Just because the recoil impressed you doesn't mean they're "hot"." I would say it probably does suggest most of the time the load is "hotter" to some extent than what they've shot before. How much hotter? The chronograph would be required to answer that one. But, more impressive recoil is almost always going to mean higher velocity, as long as "impressed" had nothing to do with muzzel flash or sound level.

Every DT round I've chronographed was dead on the mark with advertised velocities.
I found this refreshing since there ae manufacturers who pad their numbers a bit or fire from test barrels.
Double Tap claims to use, for example, actual Glocks for velocity testing which would probably explain why my results were very positive.
Others in my area who've chrono'd the DT stuff have come up with good results as well.
I don't recall reading "quite a few people" being dissatisfied with the velocity results of DT, but that doesn't mean I didn't miss those reports either.

I've shot the 147gr version.
It was noticeably stout in the G32. :)
I really like what Double Tap is doing with their ammo and particularly that they are driving a Gold Dot to higher levels and increasing expansion while still having a solidly constructed bullet that won't fragment.
When I wetpack tested the 9mm DT 147gr+p vs. the Speer 9mm 147gr, the DT penetrated slightly more and outexpanded the Speer version.
This appeared to be good news because here you have a violently expanding round that wants to fragment (indicating it's willingness to expand under tough conditions) but doesn't give up valueable penetration. :dunno:
But, more impressive recoil is almost always going to mean higher velocity.....
I think it'd have to, given that when we mention the preference for increased velocity invariably someone comes along and tells us that recoil is significantly higher.
You know, much more uncontrollable...

I agree and in my case, the ES and SD numbers were on the high side as well.

The double tap ammo I shoot from my G20 is good stuff, you can tell by the muzzle flash this is some hot stuff. I would love to have their specs for 10mm ammo with various bullet weights for reloading purposes. :whistling:
