View Full Version : Anyone seen this in a store yet?
Looks pretty good to me. Except for the price I'd guess.

Am I the only guy who hasn't even heard of this gun, much less seen one?

Google it. I just did and really like it. Going to see if I can get one tomor. I'll let you know!
Thanks for the Google tip. I did and then realized I WAS the only one apparently who had not heard of this gun.

This is the first I've heard of it. I'm just not a fan of comp's on carry guns.
I hadn't seen it yet either. I too don't like comp'd defensive pistols. I had a magna-ported 642 and all it did was spit the gases up in my eyes.

I own a 642-2 and was just wondering why anyone would ever need a ported version. Between it spitting in your face, the drop in FPS for the 1 7/8 barrel would be a real negative and another reason for not having one as a defence gun.

Never heard of it....Not really sure why you'd need ports for a .38Sp anyways..

Hadn't heard of it, though I've seen similar customized pieces.
Not a fan of ports on carry guns, especially those typically used at nosehair-inspecting ranges.

I'm trying to imagine how you were holding the gun when this happened????

My sleave length is 35" my wife maybe 24" and 5'2" if the gun was held with her elbo at her side she would get a face full of trash. As I would also if did same thng, maybe not as bad. Then there is the flash of fire at night straight up in front of your face.
Myself the main thing I don't like about them is I think they ruin the looks of a gun.

The old Squid from back when?:wow:
Anywho, I submit that the downside of compensated guns is internet myth at worst or at best very exaggerated.
IMO anything added to the gun that adds to it's performance is a good thing.
Carve this in stone, "compensator's work".
I've shot too many low light IPSC and IDPA undersizes with a comp gun to be dissuaded by net stories.

yes they work and if you are a competition shooter they are a must, in a dark house with it held close to the chest they are a real problem. In a real life street shoot out or in your house repelling intruder they are a problem for a average person, who would seldom use the gun at night or for that matter use it during the day on a range. For most occasional shooters some guns will need those compensator's, such as the S&W 500, but the average gun such as a 357 or 38 they are not needed for how they are used.
If a snubbie needs a compensator to be handled at the 7 yard man target, you have the wrong caliber. One needs to stop and remember what you use a snubbie for, that is up close and personal and not for punching holes in the 25 yard target. It is not designed to do anything more then be a belly or ear gun.
For my wife the 686-6 using 357 loads a gun with a port job would be necessary for her to use on the range if she would be doing any serious target shooting, but I WOULD NOT buy her a ported 357 J frame. What I would buy her would be a 32 maybe if S&W made one, but most likely it would a 22 WMR J frame. Something she can handle for a repeat shot or two. My snubbie is a 642-2 and a G29, and neither are ported as they are combat/defense guns, not target paper punchers.
My current house gun is a Dan Wesson 6" 357 and it is loaded with two legged stoppers, but it will be replaced here shortly with my FNH FiveseveN 5.7x28 mm as the gun would be safer if got hold of by a small child, since it has a manual safety and magazine disconnect.
