Anyone ever use Federal American Eagle 165gr. FMJ Ammo in their G22, G23 or G27 glock? Is it reliable? I am thinking of purchasing it in bulk for practice and store some away for a few years.

It's about the mildest 40 S&W ammo you can get. It's a 165 grain bullet loaded to about a 180 grain bullet velocity.

I have always found American Eagle to be good shooting in my Glocks. The 165 grain load is milder than the 155 or 180 grain loading. It should work well for paper punching.

It's great plinking ammo, especially if you're trying to break in a shooter firing a .40 for the first time.
As pointed out by the previous two posters, the ammo is loaded to subsonic velocities, and has a mild recoil. It duplicates the velocity of the old 165 grain subsonic Federal Hydrashok (a very respectable performer, too).

I like it for practice in my G27. I buy it when I can find it.
