I really like the Bright Nickel and the Tiger, can't decide. Is one more durable? Is there another finish that I should consider for better wear and tear?

View Full Version : What's the best finish for a .50 DE? bfthal 07-08-2008, 16:12 I really like the Bright Nickel and the Tiger, can't decide. Is one more durable? Is there another finish that I should consider for better wear and tear? SAWMAN 07-09-2008, 06:18 BLING,BLING,BLING ! NO TIGERSTRIPE ! Last guy that showed up at the range with a gold tigerstripe DE,we gave him a wedgie,b**** slapped him,and sent him packin'. Just black will do. With proper cleaning and lube(both internal and external) the DE will outlive you. Besides if you decide to purchase a DE chambered in .50A&E ........you will be selling it in a year or two.(trust me) Good luck. seed 07-09-2008, 07:19 Besides if you decide to purchase a DE chambered in .50A&E ........you will be selling it in a year or two.(trust me) Good luck. Why? Ammo cost? SAWMAN 07-09-2008, 11:57 The .50 A&E is one of the most misunderstood calibers that I can think of. It apparently has it's "cool factor",but not much more. The DE chambered in that caliber has a big hole in the bbl. That is(IMO)the big draw. There are several reasons why it is not chambered in a varity of weapons. The MR/DE and the AMT are the two that quickly come to mind. I'm sure that there are a couple more but nothing "important". The power levels are not really there for all the hype that the loading gets anyway. There again,it's a 50cal. so it must be an elephant killer. Not necessarily. If you intend to feed the .50 store bought rds, take out a loan. If you plan to handload, check out the cost and availability of components before you tool up. Most people use the .50A&E for range work/plinking. I have never come in contact with someone that actually hunts with a .50A&E. At the range or in the woods. Most people that want or need anything above a .44mag will go with revo's chambered in .454 Casull and up. If you want or need a auto that puts out more power than a .44 mag, pick up a DE in .50A&E ....OR....one chambered in .440Corbon(brass ?$) if you can manage to find one. If you decide on a .50 A&E,get a black one. You wont get laughed at by man or beast,I promise. bac1023 07-16-2008, 16:39 I like the brushed chrome. I guess that's why I bought one. :) BigFatDog 07-21-2008, 08:04 The best finish is the one that you like. I went custom. daporter 07-21-2008, 10:22 I went custom. Through MRI? If not, where and are you satisfied? Pictures? BigFatDog 07-21-2008, 10:43 http://www.bigfatdog.com/DE.jpg It's Brushed chrome over black chrome. MRI doesn't do the work in house. They use Fords (http://www.fordsguns.com/) and at one time used Accurate as well (http://www.apwcogan.com/). I used Accurate I'm very satisfied. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
