G18 had the ability to go auto, or burst mode i believe but of course its not for civilians. 9mm was the cal.

I've got a little video of a guy with a Glock doing multiple bursts. PM your email and I'll send it to you (kinda large, if you don't have DSL, I wouldn't bother).

the G18 is selectable between full and semi and have the same specs as the 17 except for the auto part. Several companies also make switch kits to convert any glock to full auto.

There is the G 18 in 9 mm
you can get a switch to turn any Glock full auto it runs about 350 and a long stay in a state facility.
Say By the By you seem new so welcome, and this thread should go in the free fire zone. FYI
be good mike.

During the Mesa AZ GSSF shoot earlier this year the Glock Armorer brought his G18 with him and was letting the RO's have a run with it.
I was priviledged to be one of those that got to take a little run with it. We were at the plates and when you hit the trigger you were lucky to get 1 plate and let off the trigger before you expended about 10 rounds.
Very impressive but you could sure go through some ammo with it in a big hurry.

A local Police Officer where I live has one. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen, I even got to hold it. He is a member of my local gun club and an NRA instructor.

The Los Angeles Police Dept. is having a big problem with L.A.gang member's converting there Glock's to full auto. This has been going on for over a year now. It's become quite a problem for them.

Heck they should feel safe if the gangs have the FA Glock because it sounds like if you don't hit with the first shot the rest go to the moon.

And besides that, Californicate has very strick gun laws and no criminal could possibly have an illegal handgun, especially a full auto one. ;Q

Mike:

just in case:

in case you,....or any member of the Board
may have thought, for one second, that I was
soliciting ideas on how to **illegally**
convert a Glock to full-auto. Your wrong.

Nope.

now way. No way would I endanger the Board
with such Tripe.

While admiring the simplicity of my Glock ((few
moving parts))...it reminded me of the same
simplicity and fuction of the AK-47 rifle.

Likewise. i thought this system could easily be transformed into the rival of MP-5, ect, ect.

thats all.

Obey all laws. Both State and Federal. DO NOT, be tempted to *illegally* convert your firearms.

...end of story.

thanks to all who replied to this thread.
I thank you all for your information.

Hi and I'm glad we have another law abiding glockster!!
But as I said, on this board we talk freely about class 3 weapons. in the free fire Zone
When you are at the range you can shoot what ever you want it's having it that's the problem. Lets see people that have a FFL can have class 3 weapons, tons of LEOs and military personal also enjoy the ability to have these toys. People in Arazona can pritty mutch do what they want.
Also if you out side of the US.
FYI

You dont say...... Los angeles gang members are packin' FA-glocks?
You cant muster up a clip or article about this phenomenon, could ya?
;P
I had no idea the crack dealers were so talented as to perform Title II conversions, especially of such an intermediate skill requiring weapon as the glock. Now an AR-15 or a pre-ban Tec-9 or Mac-10\11, I can see just about anyone who really wants to go Fully auto accomplish the conversion...But, the glock requires a few critical changes to be made that if(when) loused up will render the weapon useless or at best unreliable.

****, I guess if you sell enough crack you can afford to screw up a few glocks a week. If you last that long .;f

How hard is it to put in those replacement slide backs that have the switch?

Which conversion are you speaking of? The Factory Glock 18 way?
or the full auto only drop-in conversion? Either way if it's would take quarterbone a day to do it, then it's gonna be a little bit outta your average gangbangin' crack dealers league.

From what I understand Gaston Glock intentionally made the FA glock 18 to where someone couldnt just go buy a glock 17 and easily convert it over to FA. I for one have never seen the process but I've read the patent and a number of write-up's by Glock and several title 2 gunsmiths and from what I've gathered it isnt just as easy as relacing the back slide plate with a FA plate and voala! The rear slide rails need to be modified or something to that effect, as well as a few other additions to the trigger group and slide.

Don't confuse transforming a G17 into an exact copy of the G18 and just converting a G17 to full auto. The G18's slide rails are higher than a standard G17s, so you can't just switch out the slides on a G17 and have a G18. The gang members in LA are just switching out the back slide plate. I doubt they are using the more complex switch which allows semi- and full-auto fire. They're most likely using the parts that Hesse sells which only allow full auto fire. The most difficult tasks would be welding the actuator in place and making sure the length of the actuator was within spec.

Like I said I've never done the conversion, or plan to, but.....
I still have my doubts on any crack dealer being able to weld:) .
That was a joke, haha. Dont any online crack dealers take offense to my cracks at their welding capabilities. :)

I am only aware of two types of conversions. Both offer select fire (semi/full). The first is to replicate the look of the G18, and it a permanent modification to the slide. The other is the end-cap replacement, which is not permanent and only takes a few minutes to swap in/out. It is very common here in the US with FFL/NFA folks, since it offers no permanent mods to the gun, and works on any Glock. I think the guy from Venezuala has the patent on it(#05705763 (http://www.delphion.com/fcgi-bin/any2html?FILENAME=US%2F63%2F57%2FUS05705763__.tif&PAGE=1&USER_HTML=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2Forder%253Fpn%3DUS05705763__%20TARGET%3D_top%253EOrderPatent%253C%2FA% 253E&SCALE=0.35&MODE=fstv)), but I know at least one US manufacturer that makes it (Revelation Arms (http://www.revelationarms.com), though it does not look as good. All of the conversions work the same way, by having the forward movement of the slide trip the sear plate. Anyway, here is a good site to start from: Gun Nut Joe (http://gunnutjoe.tripod.com/Gunnutjoe/id3.html). This Site (http://www.france-collection.com/manuals/patent/France-collection.com%20Firearm%20Patent%20Information.htm), offers information on the various Title II patents out there. Ironically, Colt has a patent on how to install a sear block on the lower receiver AR15s....
