View Full Version : Ive got a CBR 600 with a problem
My 1998 CBR 600 will run right through first and second gear with no problems at all. But once I hit third and give it gas it sounds like its out of fuel. Jerking and slowing down. Its got fresh gas and the carbs and fuel filter are clean. What else could it be? Is my air to fuel mixture not correct? Could it be the coils? Any help would be great. Thanks.
Wrong main jet? Dirty/debris in carbs. How long have you had it? What is the history of it?
Ive had it about 3 days, I bought it used and I rode it around and it ran fine, but it was just around the neighborhood this problem happens at around 50mph or so.
Check the air box. Some riders have been known to remove/modify the air filter/air box just get a "little more" performance out of the engine.
Will it wind out clean in 1st and 2nd?
The airbox is factory. no mods. It does wind out completely in first and second. i got it all taken apart right now, im looking at the carb but i have no idea how to adjust it.
What does the bike do when you go into 4th or 5th gear? Did the problem stay the same or go away?
Ok I fixed it. There were two vacuum tubes that were backwards on the selonoid that lets air into the carb. The float tube is what it was called in the manual, I think... Runs like a champ now.
Glad you fixed it. Now post a pic or 2 of your ride.
