if it was possible to sight fish i always used a can of sweet corn. take a handfull or two and chum them up, then a couple kernals on a treble hook thrown to what ever fish is feeding. works like a charm.

big red and wheaties. cornstarch and or flour to make a dough of it. some guy was using it while we were fishing for channel cats and he was catching the hell out of carp.

just more proof that carp will hit on anything. that's basically how they feed. they put everything in their mouths. if it's food they swallow, if no they spit it out. which is exactly why i don't eat them.

You use bait? Hmm...never tried that. My usual fishing method is:
1. Light fuse
2. Throw
3. Duck
4. Scoop up the fish

Equal parts flour and corn meal, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/2 cup sorghum or molasses, and enough water to make it thick.

Thank God I moved to a part of the country where the carp aren't the only fish besides friggin' bullheads.

So, I don't do that anymore. Nor do I miss it!

Chinook and steelhead taste much better, too, I'm sure!

I used to fish topwater for carp! :) Toss a loaf or two of old bread into the water. As soon as the ducks flee you know the carp and/or stripped bass have arrived. They'd slurp bread off the surface, all you have to do is wrap a 1/2 piece of bread around your big hook and chuck it in.

I nailed a 32" stripper once in the duck pond at the community college and lots of 20 plus or minus inchers.

sharp, did you tip the stripper first before you nailed her?
