I bought a used G23 w/ lasermax installed recently. It's my first Glock and first laser. I noticed before purchase that the slide stop release seemed kinda tight to depress with slide locked back. I thought maybe the lasermax spring was heavier than stock and didn't worry about it too much.
I took it to the range right after that. It was accurate and easy to acquire quickly. The problem is that the laser would shut off after 3 or so shots. Turning off mid-use kinda worries me as this is my ccw.
After shooting, I went to clean it. Field stripping was a PITA. The slide lock was EXTREMELY difficult to push down enough to allow slide removal. Just to be sure it wasn't me, I swapped 23s with my bro and had his apart w/ no trouble while he struggled w/ mine. That little button turned my fingertips into hamburger. Finally got it apart and noticed that the cap was sitting a little crooked. I reseated it, reassembled, and field stripped it w/o problems. Until I cycled the action a dozen or so times. Then it was back to PITA. Same thing this time. So, I'm thinking that the plastic battery cap is worn enough to cause some misalignment and undue tension on cycling, some jackass put in a heavy spring that accelerated wear on the plastic cap, or both.
I called Bob @ lasermax and have a new battery cap and spring coming in the mail. Hopefully that will correct the probelm.
I really like the laser itself. In its defense, it is one of their earliest units and has wear parts just like any mechanical device. I just want my ccw to function correctly and reliably.
Anyone else had problems like these? If you don't like lasers, good for you. I don't want to hear you tell me to get rid of it. I just want to know if someone else has had similar probs and corrected them.
