View Full Version : Triple K mags
A friend who sold his 1911 recently gave me some triple K mags. I know that it is a tie between triple k and pro mag as to who makes the worst mags. The mag, however, fits the magwell fine and drops free. Would it be worth buying wilson mag springs and followers for these mags or should I pitch them?

PRo mags can be tempermental, however, use the mags before passing judgement and spending more money.

No. I've found that if a magazine does work you're putting more money in it than it's worth. Junk it and buy some Tripp magazines, Wilsons or Chip McCormick.

Take all your Triple K mags and throw them in the garbage. Jesus...McCormick shooting star mags are $13 a piece. Come on...
The way I look at it. Try them. If they don't work toss them if you want minimal hassles. IF you want to play a little try out different forllowers and springs. I have a cheap mag that is a little iffy. If it gets worse I will try out the Tripp Research follower and spring kit. Mostly just to check out what the thing is like.

I've heard alot of people complain about Triple K, but I have about a half dozen that I have used in my Colt Compact, a High Standard GI, and and a Colt Commander and I haven't had any problems with any of them. Having said that I realize that they are a cheap mag, but I'm going to keep using mine until they start to give me problems. They may not be the best mags but you might as well try them before you throw them away.

Even if they do suck, then they can be useful at malfunction clearance drills that you would not normally get a chance to practice, right??
