I just picked up a Heinie Slant Pro sight set, the front sight is a ramped serrated style. I punched out the Glock front night sight and the bottom of the Heinie sight fits nicely in the slot in the slide. The problem is that the front sight is still loose with 1/16 inch of movement when the sight screw is fully tightened inside the slide. Is it normal to have to shorten that front sight screw? I'm afraid that won't leave many threads to engage the front sight. Any ideas? Thanks
I've had to file one down a bit so it would tighten. Chased the threading with a razor knife and magnifying glass.

"Is it normal to have to shorten that front sight screw?"
It's not normal but not rare either.......
Usually from the surface of the slide, around the sight tenon oval, being relieved/milled to much {"deep"}from underneath.
Own 21 is that way, FWIW..............

I was using an Aerotek tool to install the front sight screw, the screw would go in so far and stop before the front sight would tighten. You can't put much torque on that tool with bare fingers. I put the slide in the vise and pressing down on the tool was able to turn it with a pair of pliers and get the screw to thread in all the way and tighten the front sight. I'm not sure if the threads in the sight weren't tapped well or if something else was the problem. I used red loctite and got it nice and tight so it should stay on there now.
