Hi there! Just a question on how much to expect for having my Civic's 2001 model, front struts installation.
The local shop nearest me is asking $250 for putting it on, on both side.
I bought the parts (L & R struts) at NAPA coz I thought I can DIY it, but no, I find out quickly I'm not up for the challenge (darn tie rod won't come out).
So, is $250 for the install a fair asking price?
Thanks in advance!

Seems high to me. I did my Lancer struts with a floor jack and hand tools in less than 1 hour for the front.

Yeah I thought so too. I just found out about the tools I can borrow at Autozone. I think I'll give it another shot tomorrow. It just that the tie rod won't come loose. :(
Thanks for the reply.

No, I guess not. :(
I intent to click on the Car forum, but the cursor clicked here. I'm much better with a trigger...really.
Mods please move this post. TIA

Tie rod ends usually require whacking with a hammer, a "pickle-fork" tool really helps (if one will fit, looks like a giant two-pronged fork) to get them apart. Goes together MUCH easier than it comes apart.

I bought and used that...It won't budge.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I had same work done on my '99 in Dec 2006 for $177 labor only. I know labor costs vary depending on market and have gone up in two years, but $250 seems a bit high, but not so much as to be unrealistic.

Pepboys did it for $100 for both sides. :)
All is well now, ' rides smooth and no more noise when I hit bumps.
Thanks for the help folks!
