Is anyone aware of a semi-auto version of the STEN that is available, like the old semi-auto version of the UZI? Or is it possible to legally make one in semi-auto from the various kits available? Thanks.

I remember reading about one a few years ago... It had a longer barrel(16" to be leagle) and different internals IIRC. Arg... I really wish I could remember, I thought it was quite cool myself. Check out the various WW2 re-enacting websites as I am sure that they use them...
As to converting an old one. Well, since you are going to have to pay the transfer fee for the reciver anyway so why not just leave it the way it is...

There have been a few legal semi-auto stens made, but they are very rare. As far as converting a full auto kit to semi auto is a pain in the butt. First, you have to have a 16" barrel. You have to make it fire from a closed bolt (the full auto fires from an open bolt), the receiver has to be made in such a way that it can not accept a full auto bolt, and the bolt it self must be drilled so that it can accept a movable firing pin. In all reality, it is easier and cheaper to buy a legle full auto one. They run about $1200 plus paperwork.

Thanks for the info. It wasn't what I hoped to hear, but it is what I needed to know. Sounds like I better decide if I want to jump off into the Class III world or not.
