I'm thinking about getting one. Right now, I stock 12 gauge, .38/.357, and 9mm, and I want to keep it that way. I don't feel the need for a rifle, but a 10" barrel SBR Uzi with a folding metal stock looks like a very fun gun. I've fired a full auto uzi, and it was a blast.
Anyone have one of these? How accurate and reliable are they?

Mine has been 100% through lots of ammo, its not full auto but its plenty fun! It's mostly a history piece to me as it is heavy! but the spray and pray is super fun!!!

But, apart from all of that.........it's pretty good, right?

I dont like them I see no practical use for them.Slap a 33rnd mag into a g17 and call it a day

Yeah, but it wouldn't be an Uzi. It would just be a Glock 17 with a 33rd mag. If someone is buying an Uzi, they aren't going for a practical
weapon. They are wanting to buy an Uzi and everything that comes with owning an Uzi.

What is your definition of inaccurate for a 9mm carbine?

Yeah, try and match the accuracy and controllability of an UZI with the Glock.
The only benefit the Glock has over the UZI is it is lighter weight and more compact. The UZI dominates in every other category (accuracy, controllability (especially in rapid fire) lethality, etc)
I had a semi-auto IMI and recently bought a FA IMI UZI. They are VERY fun plinkers!
A SBR UZI is even better. Though they are heavy, they are well balanced. They are very controllable and accurate for what they are (UZI members report 3-4" at 100 yards with open sights). There are also mounts for scopes and red dot sights. They are also easy to suppress and eat just about anything you wanna feed em'.
I would say get one! IMI if you can afford it...

Good choice. I believe the Uzi to actually be the superior weapon to the MP5. Better ergonomics (faster to reload, better safety setup), comparable accuracy, easier to clean, better balance, probably more durable.

Uzis are definitely fun to shoot. I've fired a couple full auto/suppressed (both) and they're lots of fun.
MP5 is still more accurate and with less training, more controllable, but the Uzi is a solid gun.
Without throwing down a LOT of cash though I'd probably buy a Beretta Storm and some 20-round mags myself.

The MP5 does have the edge on SA or first round accuracy. I find the UZI much more controllable in FA. The UZI is faster to reload and the controls are much better placed than the MP5. UZI is a cinch to clean. Both balance well to me.
Definitely more durable. It is a simple design that is very rugged and robust. There is an UZI in LV that has over 2,000,000 round though it and still ticking. Everything is simple to remove and replace, including the barrel.
The way I see it, the MP5 is the great SWAT/Urban type SMG. I see the UZI as the perfect war zone/SHTF SMG. Solid as a rock, easy to clean and repair without tools, legendary reliability (they can shoot a wider variety of ammo compared to the MP5), etc.

More than likely the reason the German Army stuck with the Uzi even though they adopted 90% of the rest of HK's product line.
There are closed-bolt full auto Uzis now too.
The Para Micro Uzi (which uses the 33 round G18 mag) is very, very interesting.

My semi Model B shoots into 4" @ 50 yards pretty easily. I don't agree with anyone suggesting they're inaccurate.
Yes, they are heavy. And the trigger...it takes just a little getting used to is all.

I have extensive experience with a vector uzi F-A with a Gemtech Mossad Surpressor, its a well made weapon , easy to control on burst and FA,
I found it to be a accurate weapon.
This picture is of someone else's but is exactly the same set up as mine. I, for some reason, cannot seem to find that I have taken a solo picture of mine since I got it set up.
It is a Vector Uzi Semi Auto with a Fake Silencer to hide the fact that the barrel is so long. Looks a bit better without that skinny long thing sitting there alone.
Fun gun, heavy... fairly accurate really.

I'd love to have a full auto Uzi, and even a semi-auto would be fun for plinking and historical value. But for less money than a real IMI, assuming you are going to keep it semi-auto, go for an Arsenal krink in 7.62 (SLR107UR). It's just as fun and it's better for SHTF. The ammo costs about the same, it's a helluva lot more powerful, and it's a lot lighter weight. It's a better system for us U.S. civilians. The only reason I can see getting an Uzi is for the history of it, and for that, I'd want a real IMI.

crappy trigger , innaccurate, heavy,
Pie plate, 100yds, 115 ball ammo, no problem. I love my Vector Uzi!!
If they were cars:
UZI = Ford truck
Beretta = Honda Acorrd
MP5K-PWD = Sportscar
I don't think you will notice the weight if the UZI is full auto.
If you go semi-auto the weight and the triggercould bother you.
If you get the UZI, make it a SBR.

The Uzi is probably one of the few 9mm platforms that's actually more durable than the Glock. It really reminds me of the FAL in that it's very utilitarian and geared for hard field use. Easy to clean, durable, reliable, accurate enough, good ergonomics.

I have never measured the shots at 100yds with my Vector. At 50 yds it will hold very nice 1" groups. I know this much, the whole pie plat gets shredded quickly at 100yds!!

FN used to do a "Group sale" to armies of it's products back in the day. This consisted of the Hi-Power, Uzi, FAL (in whichever version you wanted) sometimes the FALO (heavy barrel squad auto version) and the MAG58 (now known as our M240B/G).
Pretty good deal for smaller armies in the world considering the quality of the manufacturer and weapons involved.
