Just wanted to say hello from hot as hell Florida. New to the site. Spent all last night waiting to be able to post...finally, and now I don't have anything to say.:dunno:
First handgun I ever bought was a Glock 22 with hi-caps. Bought a mess of weapons since then, but the 22 holds a special place. Great gun!! Just picked up a sweet little Glock 30 a few weeks ago.
Anyway, glad to be aboard.:wavey:

I knew someone would comment on the blanket:rofl:

I took those pics with my cellphone right after I posted and then uploaded to Photobucket and edited my post. I did it all in less than 15 minutes.

The blanket was there so I grabbed it. Besides, nothing is more manly than having a son!!!!!:tongueout:

Just think....he gets my entire gun collection (presently numbering 67) and doesn't even know it yet!!!

Miami -
We don't have a lot of range choices here.. there is Trail Glades and there is Ace Shooting, any other recommendations?
I went to a private range and had a blast but it is by invitation only and I haven't been invited again...

Is there a place where I can blow up watermelons and water jugs with my 21sf?????

Look up Florida Gun Center in hialeah. If you go during the week when they're empty they only charge you for 1 hour, $10.00. Even if you bring your own ammo.

Me and Infoe stopped going to aces and started going there. You can't blow up jugs and watermelons, but you can work from a holster and do double taps and it's cheap to shoot. Check it out. :wavey:

Thanks Fire_Medic! That sounds really good! I am bringing over my own ammo to the range since I found WWB 230 gr Fmjs at Walmart for $29...
I'll definitely check it out. Thanks again for the tip.

No problem and right on the other side of the palmetto expressway there's a Super Walmart that always has ammo and they stock the Blazer Brass and it's a few dollars cheaper per box than the WWB.

Model 27 with CT Lasergrips, Trigger Blok and Clipdraw, also shown with DeSantis Checkmate Security Holster..........Skateboard tape on slide is for a more positive grip in wet or humid weather.......Small square of tape on left side over trigger is a reminder where I want my left thumb............Works for me !!

Wasn't Florida the place that was gonna turn into the OK Corral when the concealed carry laws were passed there (according to the hoplophobic antis)? How do you Floridians have time to post with all the shootin, and duckin' and coverin'?

Yeah,

Everyone thought there would be gunfights in the streets when they passed the Castle Doctrine Law for public places and vehicles here in Florida........

Nothing has changed, but I do have a greater feeling of peace of mind, knowing they won't just hang me right away if I have to protect myself or family out in a public place.....

I don't, however, understand why anyone would want "Open Carry" of handguns in Florida........I think it would cause more problems with citizens walking around with pistols hanging from theirs belts.........

Imagine that! An ex-cop (from NY, how unusual!!!) doesn't want us regular Joe's to walk around with guns on our hips:shocked:. I'm shocked!!!

Personally, I think it sends a clear message that we WILL NOT be victims! The cops arem't always around, which means we have to protect ourselves.

With crime only getting worse (because people are morons and don't want to punish the guilty), we are forced to take matters into our own hands. It's the way life is in this country now. TOO MANY LIBERAL SCUMBAGS protecting the "rights" of SCUMBAGS!!!!!

It needs to STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:steamed::steamed::steamed:

If I was a liberal scumbag I wouldn't want you to have a gun in the first place..........
I think every able bodied man or woman should have a handgun at the very least..........
The cops in this country have no way to protect the population......Never did have that ability and never will have it............You can blame the liberal ****s for the crime problem, not the cops........You better get used to taking care of yourself sonny..........

Walking around with a gun in plain view is just an invitation for a stand off of some type......Why would anyone want to invite a problem.........??
A weapon hidden under your jacket give you the advantage of surprise....

Did you think that showing the world that you have a gun will impress someone......??

As a Retired NY Cop I did happen to see a lot of nit-wits like you get jammed up because you carried a gun and went too far..........Usually got yourself pinned in a legal corner somehow and if it wasn't for us cops, you probably would have brought along enough rope to hang yourself.........There are a LOT of dumb ****s carrying guns.........

You sound like one of them to me.......

By the way, it has ALWAYS been a way of life to protect yourself in this country..........Nothing new there.........

Welcome from Jacksonville. I was talking to my sister who lives in Flower Mound, Texas (an outlier of Dallas) and I was telling her how the heat index (temp + humidity) hit 110 last week in Jax and she laughed and said they hit 108 on the regular scale and something like 117 on the heat index. I said damn, folks must be passing out and the such, and she said, "duhh."

Come up to Jax, I'm sure we can scare up a few for you. I believe Duval County leads the state in homicides. Dade County used to hold this distinction, but now I think we're tops (some kinda perverse pride here?)

While I'm hardly in a position to read his mind I can only hope that he was seeing a potential downside to open carry rather than opposing citizen carry altogether. With concealed carry the bad guys can only guess where the armed citizens are; which is a good thing. If everyone is carrying openly, the bad guy can easily tell if he's going to run into a problem with an armed citizen and can just pick some defenseless targets elsewhere.

Open carry makes you safer and puts others at more risk. Concealed carry puts you at more risk of having a violent situation but offers some protection to all other citizens. I'm all for personal choice in the matter, let the bad guys look around for open carry and even if that appears to be clear they still have to wonder who's concealing.

Also, with open carry I wouldn't have to worry about some paranoid soccer mom calling 911 if my cover blows back a few inches too far in one of Florida's frequent wind gusts. :)

I was going to say, just because some people choose to OC doesn't mean that everyone will. I wouldn't even OC all the time - probably just at church, the mall, the bank, places with a lot of people and maybe security guards.

I believe that cops would hate it, but others would appreciate it - deep down they would appreciate it!!!!
