Hi everyone
I just came in from the range after shooting 100 rounds of Aguila 9mm ammo from my GLOCK19.
This is the first time shooting my pistol after I installed Ameriglo operator sights. For some reason I seem to be shooting low. My groups were ok but still lower than what i was aiming for.
After about 70 rounds I hung a 1 liter plastic bottle full with water from a tree and fired slowly while making the front sight sit higher than the rear sight, and no problem. I consistently hit the plastic bottle from about (45 feet). I am no expert shooter and for me to make those shots it was very impressive to my own shooting ability, but I still had to make the front sight sit higher than the rear sight.
With the GLOCK plastic sights I didnt really have this problem, but then again I generally shot all over the place with them.
Hi!
Where did you get your Operator sights and does the packaging state that they're for Glock model 19?

Go to our web site and use the sight height calculator. If you need a taller rear call me at 770-390-0554. Rick

I love the Ameriglo sights as you can see from my previous posts on Glock Talk and Rick will make things right if you ever have a problem or issue with Ameriglo.
Yup, Rick and AmeriGlo are the best.

Hi guys
Thank you very much for the offer rick, but I will not jump right away into it because it was only my first time shooting with them and chances are i might be jerking the trigger. I will give it at least two more range runs before I go into any drastic measures as changing either rear or front sight.
I did shoot with a Sig P239 yesterday too and it was my first time ever shooting a sig. The trigger was very smooth and I think i was jerking the trigger too since i was still shooting low, though not as low as my GLOCK 19.
Like I said I will give it at least two more range runs before I decide its the sights and not me.
The owner of the Sig P239 fired my GLOCK 19 with the Ameriglo Operators and eventhough it was his first time shooting a GLOCK he managed to stay on target quite nicely.

BTW I got my sights from glockparts.com and yes they were specifically for GLOCK 19.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A BIG AND CLEAR PICTURE OF WHAT AN AMERIGLO OPERATOR SIGHT PICTURE IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE? Please post it for comparison purposes.

Glock 19. Just installed earlier in the week. I'm about to take it to the range and try out later today.

1) Okay. Thanks. Just covering the bases. We've had instances of a gun shop installing a sight set, and the owner not receiving the packaging; only to find that the wrong set had been installed! Others got a good deal on slightly used sights from eBay, say (nothing wrong with that), but again got the wrong sight! :dunno:
2) No. Sorry. But if you're right-handed, the attached, printable, shooting analysis target may come in handy! :wavey:

Give the Advantage Tactical Sight a try. The ATS is adjustable for windage and elevation, though its a fixed sight. You definitely will shoot tight groups. You can personalize the ATS for your vision preferences and for your load.

Ok from what the chart covers it appears that I am breaking wrist down, pushing forward or dropping head.
Because my shots were in line with the target just low, say i would get groupings under the target.
I need another range visit, say perhaps tomorrow afternoon

BTW I gave Rick a call, I cant say enough good things about him and Ameriglo i seriously like the sights that's why I am not willing to change them for anything else but make them work for me.
We both agreed that on my next range visit I will make measurements and take detailed notes of what is happening.
The range where I shoot is not marked, as a matter of fact its not even a range its an isolated island owned by my landlord. We just shoot from different distances and see our progress like that, the way I figure is if im in a gunfight i will not have the opportunity to try and guess how far I am from the perp.

Can someone please explain to me why different people might need different from or rear sight heights? so that their point of aim is the same as their point of impact?
Would the ammunition im using make a huge difference?

Just a quick review of some of the basics--no offense intended. With proper eye and ear protection, as a new shooter, you should be...
A) Watching the front sight throughout the entire firing cycle
B) Seeing the muzzle flash, every time you fire
C) Using the same stance and grip every time you fire
D) Using more or less, the same distance, every time you shoot
E) Firing from the trigger "reset" position--not the entire trigger pull
F) Using standardized ammo during practice
G) Adjusting after each failed shot
Explanations...
A) Eye(s) should be on the front sight, with the target behind it, throughout the entire firing cycle.
B) If you don't see the muzzle flash, you're closing your eyes (blinking) at a critical point in the firing process.
C) If your stance and grip changes constantly, you will never arrive at the right one for you--the results will be different with every shot.
D) The sight picture and target difficulty changes with distance. Get good at one, before moving onto another.
E) Squeeze the trigger from the "reset" position, so that you almost surprise yourself when the gun fires.
F) Using the same ammo from magazine to magazine is helpful during practice, as performance and firing characteristics are predictable.
G) Repeating a process that didn't work is a waste of time! Memorizing and repeating a process that does work is training!
All of the above, along with the shooting analysis target, should have you making real progress!
Once your basic skills improve, you can vary your distances, try new ammos, etc.
Your G19 is an excellent 9 mm combat handgun, and my favorite overall Glock!

Thank you very much, I dont see how someone could get offended with excellent advise as is above.
I beleive i might be blinking but not sure. Say If I was flinching how could I get over that? Just going to the range more often ?

A bit off topic but Island glocker can you explain the gun laws in Belize. I thought all the former Brit colonies were gun free.
Thanks

1) Hang around a while...
2) Yes. Get quality eye protection and learn to trust your equipment. If you use factory ammo, and maintain your gun, the odds of it malfunctioning and hurting you, are less than the risk you take going to the range.

You know what they say about assuming right hahahaha
Ive quoted Belize gun laws a gazillion times on this forum and today I do not feel like doing it again. Im sorry !!!
I installed a set of green/yellow operators on my g23 a few weeks ago, but I haven't had the time to test fire yet.. But I can honestly say they have a crisp, clear sight picture. They're perfect. I love them! I can't wait to shoot a couple hundred rounds this weekend.. After years of being a hardcore mepro fan, I can safely say Ameriglo operators will be the only night sights I purchase from now on.

Hi guys
I will be heading to the range as soon as this rain stops. I will fire from 10ft Then I will fire from 15ft and then I will fire from 45ft. each time measuring the distance and also where my shots are impacting.
I will shoot 115grain S&B FMJ, 115grain Aguila FMJ, 124grain Aguila FMJ.

Hi everyone
I started off with a really nice grouping about two inches lower than my point of aim.
That was with S&B 115
After that with the Aguila 115 and 124 i pretty much stayed lower say more or less 6 inches lower than my point of aim. This was all done at 15 FEET.
I tried to more or less stay within the confines of my shooting ability and didnt really push going farther than that.

Some Belize gun laws
THE BAD
Limited to 9mm or smaller caliber.
Limited to having 100 rounds of ammo.
THE GOOD
Once you get your handgun license its a carry license.
You can carry most everywhere except three places BANKS, International Airport and Court.
Self Defence laws allow not only to protect your life and property but a third persons life and property.
Weather you will be charged or not usually is decided within 24 hours of the incident.
Can carry even inside bars and clubs providing that you do not drink over the prescribed limit for motor vehicles.
