View Full Version : Fish Pics!
This one is a 26" Snake River cutthroat caught on a 1/16 oz white marabou jig.
This is yours truly with a 22" rainbow trout. The lure is a hand-tied white woolly bugger on a 1/16oz jig head.
Thanks for the pics Flinch.Did you pan fry them on the bank?
Both fish were released unharmed. This particular river has a limit of one fish over 20"; everything else goes back into the water.
Nice fish, Flinch!
you're killing me!;1 i didn't do nearly enough fishing this year. between the weather, prior engagements and only being able to go on the weekend i didn't get many trips in.:(
Very nice fish! Where on the Snake?
It wasn't on the Snake, but somewhere along the North Platte River. This particular section has a mix of rainbow trout, cuttbows (rainbow/cutthroat hybrids), Snake River cutthroats, and brown trout.
It's pretty rare to catch a pure cutthroat on that river, since the 'bows and the 'cutts both spawn at the same time, and they hybridize readily. The cutt-bows usually look like rainbows, but still retain the red slash marks underneath the gill plates. You'll know when you hook one, since they love to go skyward during a fight.
If your in Texas, you need to go the Purtis Creek State Park.
