wanting me to buy a truck. He knows me pretty well and we have talked in the past year about it. Hes just trying to generate business and get me a good deal right now.
He has a 2005 White Nissan Frontier LE 4X4 Ext Cab with 40K miles for $17,900 loaded. A 2008 Chevy Colorado with 1,993 miles for $17,500 and any '08 truck for HIS employee price plus rebates and low interest. WOW!
Not exactly in a spot for a new truck but that Nissan appeals to me.

Tell em to go pound sand---there's better deals than that out there.
Isn't it GM's 100 year anniversary? I believe they're advertising everyone gets the GM employee price.

There's not a dealership in the known universe that will "get you a good deal".
You can buy brand-new loaded frontiers for $16k; tell him to go screw somebody else...

New loaded Frontiers LE 4X4's start at $23,400. Edmunds.com puts his Nissan outfitted exactly the same at $18,608.

lol door to door truck salesmen.
years back when I was shopping for a car I went to a place and like an idiot left my contact info. After many repeat calls I ended up having to tell the salesman off in a rude manner.

Man...you guys are murder. I was just throwing information out there.
I would rather talk with a car salesman that I KNOW his rep rather than one that you have NO idea about his tactics. Is that what YOU guys do?
I have done work for this guy, got to know him, talked to others about him. Nothing more.
Why is it when you throw out info, you all like to jump on and run a guy down because of it?? I have NEVER understood that on a forum.:steamed:

Because everyone knows more than you....you didn't get the memo?
It astounds me at how little many people say they pay for vehicles where they live. Here in Raleigh, if you go on a lot (used/new) and tell them what you're gonna pay, they ride you off their lot on a friggin rail.

That happened to me when I threw out a post saying my truck got broken into and my rifle stolen. It was made to be MY fault for leaving my rifle in it, not the ******** criminal who actually stole it.
Seems a lot of folks here would rather talk down to the poster, because he simply posted it instead of thinking about what was posted.
I stopped at a red light today right between a toyota dealer and a chevy dealer. The chevy dealer had a new crew cab silverado with "$7,900 off" taped on the side and across the street was a big tundra with "$11,000 off" on the side. Not a good time to be a car dealer who was heavy into trucks. I figure in a few months it will be "Buy one, get one free."

I think everyone is harsh because they don't want you to get screwed. You said in your initial post that he is "trying to get you a good deal," when it is obvious he is trying to screw you. It doesn't matter what Edmunds says the car is worth, market value determines what it is worth. And right now, brand new frontiers are going for less that what you posted. If you want a truck, it is certainly a buyer's market, but please do your research first, and do not buy from an acquaintance!
You say you'd rather deal with a car salesman you know rather than one you don't know. Personally, I deal with the one that gives me the lowest price. There should be no other considerations, unless you feel like helping him out for some reason, at your expense.

IF you like the truck/want it make him a offer. I think you were showing how desperate car/truck sales folk are.
MY cousin wants a new truck (and needs one) The prices he was looking at early spring are more then now. He is waiting as they keep going down/trucks (full size) are not selling well.

I guess that the difference in the way some folks operate in the south.
I WILL do research and I WILL buy from the lowest price but knowing HOW a person 'deals' goes along way down here. If you are a person that is known to uh how should I say 'screw' people...you will starve to death here because people will NOT do business with you for anything at all. Honestly they would rather pay a little more and be done right. Thats the way folks are here.

Actually, recently, Chrysler was running a deal where if you purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee, you got a Jeep Wrangler Free. I bet most would still honor it.

We had a dealer come by a few weeks ago offering a rather decent buy on a full-size van.
Is this becoming the norm as these dealerships are trying to unload gas guzzlers?
New loaded Frontiers LE 4X4's start at $23,400. Edmunds.com puts his Nissan outfitted exactly the same at $18,608.
If you have no problem paying $18k for an almost 4 year old truck with 40k miles on it when you could get a new one for the same price or less, then fine.
Edmunds means jack in this current market.
I went to a local Nissan dealer and they had crew cab 4x4 LE Frontiers out the door for $16k. Titans were the same. Others are reporting the same drastic price cuts.

Oooohhhhh, I'd look into that one. I like them both.
The Fronty is WAY over priced. They are great trucks, I love mine I paid 20,000 new in 2005 for a King Cab NISMO, it has 68K with ZERO problems so far.
