I've been trying to get this gun fixed since the day I got it. It fails to feed, stove pipes, and ejects shells 1 ft from the pistol and sometimes forward instead of to the side. I have changed the recoil springs and am giving the gun to the armorer on monday. Any one else have these problems? BTW the gun was made in '96 and I don't think it has ever been tuned up.

try a new magazine spring or new magazine, other than that I'd guess it's you not the gun.

Just curious as to how long you've had it...I believe mine was made in '90 and it's absolutely perfect.

How ong have you had it?Did you buy new or used and why not send it to glock and have them fix it for you?
I have had my g17 for about a month and have nothing but good experiences with it I love my g17

I think this guy may be trying to 'rattle our cages'...'yank our chains'...'pull our tails'...'ruffle our feathers'...in other words 'get us going'.

Why else would someone with a 'nickel plated sissy pistol' avitar post such nonsense, then not respond to any helpful advice?

Could be explained by weak ammo, bad ejector, problem with the extractor. It's not hard to work on yourself you know.

It's odd. No one I know has shared your experience with a "Lemon Glock pistol."

Send that pistol to me so that I can write an article about it to warn folks, so nobody else has to suffer the way that you have. Sending the bad pistol to me will free you up to get yourself a new HK pistol.
I'll send you a copy of the article. I don't know what I'll do with that bad junk pistol. Maybe we'll try to fix it in an armorer's class, or else I'll just melt it down and thow it out.

I' better just thow it out. :drillsgt:

It could be a 'BLOOP'

You take it to the lake and throw it in............and it goes 'BLOOP'

But why wouldn't he have the FREE parts upgrades that are probably available for that old of a GLOCK???:dunno:

Have there been any sort of upgrade done since 1996 that would affect reliability? I thought that the bugs and modifications had been worked out by about 1990.

Wow, it always amazes me how many a-holes are on GT. That isn't a nickel plated sissy pistol you moron, it is an x-ray picture of a Glock. That post really pisses me off. I have a life and don't sit on Glock Talk all day. No wonder people hate guns and want to make them illegal. Most of the people that represent the sport are complete jerks. :steamed:

I shoot other handguns, including a G23 and don't have any problems. No I haven't had the pistol for 12 years. I bought it used. I left that part out. I bought new mags and that didn't change. I am at a loss.
I am always amazed at all the people who think that the Glock is something immortal and something that could never go wrong. It's a man made tool that can break or not work properly. Yes, it may be rare, but it isn't impossible and it does happen. Even Glocks are not immortal. This stuff happens and I don't think that it is necessarily a good reason to jump on the poster with these preposterous claims. My G23 is flawless. I love it.

I called Glock Inc. They told me that based on my serial number the pistol was not due for any upgrades.

Nice sarcasm. I never said anything in my post that indicated I was going to throw it out. I just want it to work. I guess you know every single Glock owner in the world.

Thanks to everyone that offered some constructive thoughts on the problem.

That's it guys I am done with GT also because you are all jerks.I am a jerk myself maybe that's why we all get along.

Send it to glock and let them deal with it man, there is obviously something wrong it.
We all know glocks are not immortal but they are close to it.

It's your friendly A-Hole...as you put it.

Lighten up!

If yours is a 96 then it's a Gen 2 or Gen 2.5 according to the Serial Number date your GLOCK thread. If so it would need the upgrades.

That can't be it. I have a third gen (17) that I have put over 1700 trouble free rounds down range. I have even mixed name brand ammo in the mag, it eats what ever I feed it. I thought to good to be true, so I even limp wristed as bad as possible without loosing control or dropping the weapon, it just would not miss a lick. This piece is as dependable as my Romy-G and my Sar-1. Send it back for service you'll be glad you did.:wavey:

What upgrades? Only Glocks made prior to November, 1991 get the firing pin safety upgrade (with firing pin, trigger bar, extractor, spring loaded bearing).

In your original post you said you tried changing the recoil spring assembly. If you haven't, that might fix the problem, especially a 12 year old gun.

I wonder if your extractor has a problem? See if it has part of it chipped off, where it contacts the case rim. Also, make sure the ejector actually protrudes far enough in front of the bolt face with the slide pulled all the way rearward. Never know if someone previous has screwed with the pistol to make it "run better."

Are the serial numbers on the barrel, slide and frame all matching?

If you'd have said the problem was with a G22, G23 or G27 folks would have blamed the gun right off. Many love to bash the .40sw. But, your crime was reporting, on GT, a problem with a 9mm Glock, the flagship G17 no less. I find folks are quicker to blame the gun with a .40sw, but quicker to blame the shooter with a 9mm.

With a new recoil rod replacement and a new style mag replacement, seems possibly an extractor issue? Let us know when you get it fixed.
