View Full Version : Need A Good Reason To Purchase a 36

Purchased a 21SF and 30SF in the past four months. Dunno if I've just been hanging out in GT too long, but I have an urge to pick up a 36. Can't come up with a good reason, other than I'd like to complete the "set". Don't have a wife to nag me about spending the money, only a conscience that I have to deal with. Just can't come up with a responsible answer to why I should get one. :dunno:

Because it is a Glock. Duh! Well, that one always works on me.
Numerous threads in General Glocking and the G-36 Club forum on this topic in the past week or two...
What would be a "good reason" to NOT buy a G-36?
Mine is one of my most valued possessions, and has always functioned 100% with any and all ammo. I'd never part with it.

Because it uses the same size holsters as a 19 and if you don't already have a 19 it gives you an excuse to buy one.

Because you don't have one.
Well....thanks for making me feel like an antique. I thought you were talking about the S&W Model 36 Chief's Special.
People seem to either love 'em or hate 'em.
Some cite the 6-round mag capacity as a reason to pass them by...
I'd rather have a 6-round Glock than a 6-shot revolver.
Popping a new mag in is much faster (for me anyway) than using a speed-loader.
Also, the Pearce +1 mag extensions have worked fine for me.
I've come to pretty-much prefer the 6-round mag as it comes from the factory, but it's nice to have the choice.

Because you want one! No other reason or guilty feeling is necessary.

I have the G36 and have never regretted purchasing it. I am now looking the other way though for the 30 or 30SF. I think you will really like the 36. It is easy to conceal, reliable, as you know, to shoot and very accurate.
Buy a G17! 9mm ammo is cheap and you'll enjoy it for sure.

Reload if ammo prices chap your *****.
I love my 36. You will forget you are even carrying it with a good holster.
I wish they made a single stack slim 10mm. I guess I can always dream.

That's pretty much it for a single guy.
Us married guys have a bit more difficulty with the justification thing.

Just because you don't have it a you want it, although I would drop the number just 1 to a Glock 35. WAY more fun!!!! Really get it if you want it and don't let a woman talk you out of it.

Perfect reason to get a Glock you considering, because you don't have that model yet!
I wish I could find a reason not to want one:whistling:

Because RevDerb got one recently and he assures you that you will fall in love all over again. The 36 absolutely rocks.

For what it's worth, I intend to buy a second G-36 also...
just waiting on a good deal to pop up.
Do I NEED a 2nd G-36? Probably not. Thing is, I value it so highly I want to ensure that I'll ALWAYS have one on hand.
Instead of a G36, buy a 10mm conversion barrel for your G21SF and G30 and with the left over money a couple of 10mm mags and the rest as ammo.

You want to boost the economy a little more.
I am 64 years old and I couldn't sit in a chair and list all the guns I've carried. But one thing I DO know for sure is that the best one I have EVER carried is my G-36. It is the most dependable, most accurate, most concealable (except for my little P-32 but we won't count that LOL!) and most comfortable gun I've ever carried. I was carrying a G-23 when I bought this 36 a couple of years ago and even though I had NO problems with the 23 it immediately go busted down to 2nd place. I love my G-36

How about because you are addicted to Glocks?
Feed your habit.
Arguably, one of the top-5 carry guns of all time, maybe?

I think the title of the thread is misleading, as you don't need a good reason to get a G36!

Because John Connor (writer for Guns Magazine carries one). :) Here's a sample column: http://www.gunsmagazine.com/Odd0508.html
He's one of the few reasons to ever buy a gun magazine (he and Mr. Ayoob).
