Right now I have my G32 with Meprolights and a Ghost Rocket connector. I am considering a BarSto barrel. I've usually only installed a connector on all my Glocks, but now I'm looking further into the horizon. I use Gold Dots as my SD ammo. Has anybody switched out the guide rod/spring on their G32? What other alterations have you done to yours, and why?

I use a stainlees steel guide rod with 22lb spring on my G31. Brass doesn't fly as far, and lands in a more consistant pattern. Reliability is unaffected.

Recoil difference?
Standard guide rod & spring. Putting in a Glock 23 barrel is the only change I have made.

Recoil difference? Not much. Some claim a lighter spring results in less felt recoil. It may be my perception, but to me it feels like a softer 'slam' when the slide hits the frame at the rear of it's travel.

I know that recoil is actually two part, one being the push of the slide action, and another of the slide/frame impact. It seems to me that a lighter spring would ease the push and make the impact harder, don't know if that sounds right :headscratch:

Makes sense.
Good thing the verbage police isn't hanging around tonight, might've insinuated I was speaking in double sense.
Have you considered a non captive guide rod?

Have you considered a non captive guide rod?I'm a member of the punctuation patrol; I have no use for the verbage police. My stainless guide rod is non-captive. You just have to use a little caution during assembly/disassembly.

Do you use different weight springs for practice and carry?

Do you use different weight springs for practice and carry?Yes. For carry I prefer stock. A heavier spring increases the possibility of a limp-wrist induced malfunction, although I've never had this occur. It's just something to be aware of.

Even with hotter loads?

Even with hotter loads? It probably wouldn't cause a problem, the G17 uses the same stock spring weight, but why take the chance? You never know what awkward positions you might be forced to shoot from.
